It doesn’t look like Oscar Isaac will be returning as Poe Dameron in any future “Star Wars” movies or shows for the foreseeable future.
In a new interview with GQ, the actor known for his role in “Frankenstein” said he doesn’t want to work with the media company because of its willingness to accommodate the Trump administration.
Oscar Isaac said he’d consider returning to the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, but he’s currently hesitant about working with Disney. He added that he’d be happy to come back if Disney could address what he sees as problematic, potentially authoritarian tendencies within the company.
The interview came out this week, but was recorded shortly after conservative personality Charlie Kirk was killed. Following Kirk’s death, ABC announced it was temporarily suspending “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” due to strong public criticism of Kimmel’s comments. The show eventually returned to ABC on September 23rd, after being off the air for almost a week.

Guillermo del Toro’s longtime passion project ‘Frankenstein’ is its own marvelous monster
Jacob Elordi delivers a captivating and intense performance in this action-packed and dramatic film, alongside acclaimed actors Oscar Isaac, Christoph Waltz, and Mia Goth. His character is both heartbreaking and powerful.
Isaac added that he would be willing to discuss the possibility of working on a Star Wars project, or other opportunities, if they arose.
The 46-year-old actor starred as the main character in the 2022 Disney+ series “Moon Knight,” which is based on the Marvel superhero of the same name. The character first appeared in comic books back in 1975.
In a 2020 interview with Deadline, Oscar Isaac expressed uncertainty about reprising his role in the “Star Wars” films after appearing in 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.”

Dan Laustsen, the cinematographer for Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein,’ discusses how the film explores the impact of death and loss.
He said, five years ago, that he loved the ambitious nature of those films and collaborating with so many talented people – from the actors and artists to those who built the sets and props. However, he clarified that wasn’t his original goal. He initially wanted to create films in a more hands-on, personal way, and to work with people who motivated him.
In 2020, when directly asked if he’d consider returning to a “Star Wars” project, Isaac jokingly replied that he probably would—if he needed to fund a large purchase, like a house.
Isaac realized his earlier reply came across as rude and pointed out how unpleasant it sounded when said aloud.
In a recent interview with GQ, the “Dune” actor admitted to saying something a little inappropriate. He explained, “People ask you questions, you respond, and you don’t always put a lot of thought into it.” He described the comment as ‘slightly off-color’.
