Orlando Bloom admitted that the extreme weight loss he underwent for his movie, The Cut, led him to experience persistent, unwanted thoughts.
48-year-old Johnny Depp, famously known for his role in Pirates of the Caribbean, takes center stage in this psychological thriller, where he portrays a past boxing champion who navigates the complex world of weight cutting among boxers.
I, utterly captivated by my devotion, underwent an extraordinary transformation – shedding a staggering 30 pounds! This dramatic change occurred when I was strictly limited to a diet consisting solely of tuna and cucumbers for a remarkable three consecutive weeks.
Currently, Orlando has revealed that he felt extremely hungry during the editing stage, causing him to experience unwanted, persistent thoughts.
In the forthcoming movie, Orlando showcases his lean, muscular physique prominently, portraying the character of the Boxer in vivid, intense sequences.
In simpler terms, he stated that the film was particularly impactful, with a significant portion of its intensity stemming from the physical constraints involved in achieving such a weight. He also emphasized that diet significantly influences our psychological well-being and overall constitution, as he shared this insight with Yahoo UK.

We necessarily have to consume food, and I had been following such an extreme diet regimen. With the guidance of a renowned nutritional expert based in Los Angeles, we conducted regular blood tests to ensure everything was healthy. Following this, we began filming the movie.
Orlando remarked, ‘When you’re hungry, it seems your mind entertains some unsettling thoughts, and there’s a touch of suspicion as well.’
Last year, The Cut premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, with its official release scheduled for September 5.
Previously on “This Morning”, Orlando shared the stark truth behind his significant weight reduction, detailing the limited diet he followed (consisting of just two food items) and describing some disturbing consequences.
Orlando advised against doing it at home as it’s not a light matter. He had the assistance of an excellent dietitian.
My agent, who had previously collaborated with Christian Bale, referred me. As a result, they requested a series of health checks. Essentially, they adjusted my meal plan from three meals a day to two, and eventually to one.
All of a sudden, these foods were being removed from my reach, leaving only my protein powder. In disbelief, I pleaded, “No! Please don’t take that!
‘Then basically I came down to [eating] just tuna and cucumber for the last three weeks.

“We filmed the movie with the sequence reversed due to the heavy demands on resources, leaving me drained both mentally and physically, bordering on being irritable and unfocused – in short, not exactly the ideal company.
Orlando also opened up about the mental impact it had on him.
He went on to explain: ‘The constant suspicion, the unwelcome ideas. It seems we should just eat, rest, and look after ourselves, but…’
It shows just how far someone is willing to push for that additional chance. I find it very relatable.
The last occasion here in the studio, our conversation revolved around an individual who was governing the country on a charitable basis, with some individuals even swimming the English Channel and performing extraordinary feats.
‘But athletes do this on the regular. We take it to the extreme for the purposes of the movie…’
Rylan expressed curiosity about learning a tad more regarding the character he portrays in the movie, as this character remains nameless.

‘In a way, he loses his identity, which is partly why Boxer is called Boxer,’ Orlando answered.
‘It’s something that is transferable to anyone in some way.’
Discussing his weight loss journey, Orlando mentioned that he underwent weekly supervision from a seasoned nutritionist, Philip Goglia, and managed to shed around 30 pounds over the course of about three months.
Essentially, this narrative revolves around the challenges that everyone encounters, delving into the courage needed to conquer personal conflicts and eventually achieve self-approval.
