One of the original actors from Game of Thrones is hoping for a spin-off series focusing on his character, even though HBO decided not to develop his character’s history further. Several Game of Thrones spin-offs are already in the works, including the upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and season 3 of House of the Dragon, all of which aim to build out the world of Westeros.
At CCXP, Tom Wlaschiha, known for his role in Game of Thrones, shared that he’s hoping author George R.R. Martin will expand on the history of his character, Jaqen, and the Faceless Men. While it doesn’t look like that will happen, Wlaschiha is still interested in the possibility of a spinoff series focused on them.
I’m up for a [Jaqen] spinoff if that happens.
Jaqen first appeared in season 1 of Game of Thrones. As a member of the mysterious Faceless Men, he’s a highly skilled assassin who becomes Arya’s trainer, helping her to eliminate her enemies. While Jaqen is a compelling character, the history and motivations of the Faceless Men remain largely unknown.
HBO once considered creating a new Game of Thrones series set in Braavos, the home of the mysterious Faceless Men. However, George R.R. Martin revealed in October 2024 that the project had been cancelled several years earlier. This decision significantly limited the potential to delve deeper into the history and motivations of the Faceless Men, particularly the character Jaqen and his connection to them.

As a fan of House of the Dragon and the other planned Game of Thrones shows, I’ve been wondering about the fate of the Faceless Men. While we haven’t seen them pop up in any of the current series, I think there’s still a good chance we’ll see elements of their world woven into future stories – particularly with things like the upcoming Aegon’s Conquest adaptation, or even The Sea Snake. However, don’t hold your breath for a Jaqen H’ghar return anytime soon; sources tell me that’s just not in the plans right now.
As a big fan of Arya’s journey, I really hope we haven’t seen the last of the Faceless Men. They were so central to her development, and even if they don’t get another full spin-off, it would be great to see them pop up again somehow. I’m not sure when that might happen in the timeline, but there’s just too much potential there to completely leave them behind, you know?
Now that Tom Wlaschiha has expressed interest in a spin-off series focusing on his character Jaqen, it seems logical that Game of Thrones could explore the fascinating and secretive world of the Faceless Men in a future story. However, it’s currently unclear how prominent a role they might play.
