Finally we will get to answer the question that comic-book fans have wondered for decades:
What does Galactus taste like?
It’s being said that he tastes like an Oreo, and surprisingly, Venom does too! Considering he’s black and white, it kind of fits. But the really big news is that Oreo is releasing limited-edition Marvel cookies, so now all Marvel heroes and villains apparently taste like Oreos!
These special edition OREOs, called “Stuf of Legends,” have a unique feature: they change color! Each cookie features one of 32 different designs inspired by Marvel characters, and the creme filling magically changes from gray to blue with every bite – a fun surprise you won’t expect.
Ever seen cookies that change color? It’s a bit like what happens in the movies when something gets hit with gamma radiation – like how it turns Bruce Banner into the Hulk! In this case, it’s turning the white filling inside OREOs blue. And don’t worry, the packaging promises they still taste just as good!
Here is a look at the entire fleet of Marvel cookie designs.

These new products come in three different packages, each featuring unique Marvel characters illustrated by artist Todd Nauck. I’m especially excited to try the color-changing cream and see how it reacts with my body – it feels like a fun, tasty science experiment inspired by those irradiated spiders!
Limited edition Marvel OREOs will be available for pre-order starting January 26th at OREO.com/UnwrapTheCollab. They’ll then be available in stores nationwide starting February 2nd. Since they’re only available for a limited time, you’ll need to act quickly if you want to collect all 32 designs and build your own cookie Infinity Gauntlet!
The Most Ridiculous Movie Tie-In Food Ever Made

20. Subway’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Fiery Footlongs
It’s easy to see why Subway tied their “Fiery Footlongs” promotion to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. If you’re not familiar with the movies, it makes sense to use a popular film to sell a Sriracha Chicken Melt. But for those who have seen The Hunger Games, the connection feels…off. The entire premise revolves around characters literally starving, forced to fight to the death for food rations. So, advertising a new sandwich with the tagline “Starving like those in Panem? Come to Subway!” is a bit strange. Considering the movies are set in a dystopian world, maybe the awkwardness was intentional.

19. Johnny Rockets’ Kong: Skull Island Street Tots
Chain restaurants have always tried to turn regular foods into nachos. Recently, to promote the movie Kong: Skull Island, Johnny Rockets released tater tots shaped like nachos and called them “Street Tots.” It’s a bit much to imagine eating so many tater tots—especially ones covered in bacon, cheese, and scallions! But what do these “Street Tots” even have to do with the movie? Kong: Skull Island takes place on a remote, uncharted island—there are no streets, and definitely no street food. Plus, the name “street tot” just sounds unappetizing—like something you’d find on the ground. Yuck! No thanks.

18. Denny’s Independence Day: Resurgence Red, White & Bacon Menu
The Independence Day movies are famous for two things: massive alien spaceships destroying iconic landmarks, and an unbelievable amount of bacon. For some reason, the films and bacon became linked in pop culture, and Denny’s capitalized on it. The restaurant created a special menu with seven different bacon-themed items, including bacon skillets, burgers, samplers, and even a bacon sundae! It felt like Denny’s saw bacon as the destructive force from the movie, and your digestive system as the target.

17. Burger King’s The Addams Family Wednesday Whopper
Okay, so Burger King has been having a lot of fun with the color of their Whopper buns lately, and honestly, it’s a bit of a trip. They’re not just your standard beige anymore! They’ve gone all-out for movie tie-ins – bright red for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, fiery shades for How to Train Your Dragon, and even a spooky purple for The Addams Family (even though that movie came out way after the original cartoons!). But here’s the ironic part: that vibrant purple bun looked amazing, but the burger patty itself? Let’s just say it was a pale, sad gray, and not nearly as appealing. It was a real visual disconnect!

16. IHOP’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Stuffed French Toasts
This IHOP menu is based on the video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which itself was inspired by the movies. But the food choices are really odd. Considering the theme, you’d expect something round, like pancakes – it’s even in the restaurant’s name, International House of Pancakes! Instead, they focused on stuffed French toast, offering three different versions to tie in with the game. Honestly, the food wasn’t very good (the Explorer’s Caramel Apple Butter Hot Chocolate was particularly bad), but the biggest issue is the disconnect between the theme and the menu. It just doesn’t make sense why they didn’t go with something circular, like pancakes!

15. MrBeast Burger’s Shrek Quesadilla
More than ten years after the last Shrek film (before the announcement of Shrek 5), popular YouTuber MrBeast sold a green Shrek Quesadilla through his MrBeast Burger restaurants. However, MrBeast Burger was a “ghost kitchen” – a delivery-only operation – and faced several lawsuits starting in 2023. MrBeast claimed his business partners damaged his reputation by associating his name with restaurants serving poor-quality food. Those partners later sued MrBeast for $100 million.
Considering the quesadilla was themed after a swamp creature, perhaps serving unappetizing food was fitting?

14. IHOP’s The Grinch Grinch’s Green Pancakes
IHOP responded to Burger King’s rainbow-colored burger buns by offering a full spectrum of colored pancakes. To promote the animated movie The Grinch, the breakfast restaurant sold green pancakes decorated with cream cheese frosting, whipped cream, and heart-shaped candies. Thankfully, they didn’t try to make the pancakes look like the Grinch’s fur!

13. IHOP’s The Addams Family Morticia’s Haunted Hot Chocolate
If you’re looking for a truly green sight, skip the Grinch pancakes and just picture my face after I tried this purple hot chocolate, inspired by The Addams Family. (Yes, that Addams Family – the one that also led to a purple Burger King Whopper! That movie feels like a personal haunting, but with food.)
I only ordered a simple mug of hot chocolate with violet whipped cream and chocolate syrup, but something went wrong. It quickly turned into this strangely radioactive-looking goo.

12. Denny’s Solo: A Star Wars Story Co-Reactor Pancakes
Denny’s partnered with Star Wars around the time the Han Solo movie came out, creating a whole menu inspired by the film. They had items like the “Lightspeed Slam” and “Two Moons Skillet,” but the real standout was the “Co-Reactor Pancakes” – two pancakes covered in strawberries, strawberry sauce, whipped cream, and Pop Rocks (which Denny’s cleverly called “Crystal Crunch Rocks”).
I still have no idea what a “co-reactor” is supposed to be! I figured it must be something that powers the Millennium Falcon, but a quick Google search shows the term only appears in connection with Denny’s. It seems like Denny’s just created their own Star Wars lore to come up with the menu! Maybe someone should ask Star Wars expert Pablo Hidalgo about that.

11. IHOP’s Wonka Dreamy Lemonade
IHOP’s limited-time Wonka menu continued their trend of using a lot of purple food, likely stemming from their previous Addams Family promotion. They offered items like “Wonka’s Perfectly Purple Pancakes” with purple sauce and a “Daydream Berry Biscuit” featuring purple topping. But the most unusual item was definitely the “Dreamy Lemonade.” It was described as prickly pear lemonade with a cream cheese icing and rainbow sprinkle rim, topped with cotton candy. However, the rim didn’t actually look like icing – it had a strange, almost surreal appearance, reminiscent of something from Willy Wonka.

10. Little Caesars’ The Batman Calzony
Let’s be honest, does this thing actually look like a bat? Maybe if you were feeling sick after eating this huge, greasy combination of pizza and calzone, you could almost see it. But actually, Batman chose a bat as his symbol to scare criminals. And if this – this food creation – came flying towards you from a rooftop, you’d definitely be frightened! So, in a strange way, it’s a surprisingly good edible version of Batman’s symbol.

9. IHOP’s IF Menu
For the movie IF, IHOP created a special menu with some pretty unusual items. They had bluish-green pancakes called “Dazzleberry Pancakes,” plus fountain sodas with Bomb Pops and gummy candies added in. But the most over-the-top treat was the “Lewis’ Cinn-a-Bear Stack”—a huge pile of pancakes covered in donuts. Surprisingly, it actually tasted great!

8. White Castle’s X-Men: Apocalypse’s Apocalyptic Waffle Slider
White Castle created a limited-time menu tied to the release of the movie X-Men: Apocalypse, featuring three spicy sliders. They included a slider with ghost pepper cheese, another with ghost pepper cheese, crispy onions, and chipotle mayo, and a unique “Apocalyptic Waffle Slider” using mini waffles as buns, filled with an egg, spicy chorizo, and—you guessed it—ghost pepper cheese. It’s a bit odd that a menu based on the villain Apocalypse focused so much on spice, considering heat isn’t one of his defining traits. However, the meal did have a rather dramatic effect on my stomach, so maybe it was thematically appropriate after all.

7. IHOP’s Minions: The Rise of Gru Minion Menu
IHOP has partnered with the Minions several times over the years, even creating a menu with something called “Loaded Minion Taters.” (Just imagine asking your server for extra Minions on your potatoes!) Most recently, to promote Rise of Gru, they offered a special menu with two drinks, a milkshake, a burger, iced donuts, and even “Ba-Ba-Banana Pudding Pancakes” – pancakes topped with banana pudding, Nilla wafers, whipped cream, and banana slices, all covered in something IHOP mysteriously called “Minion Sprinkles.” Honestly, I don’t even want to think about what those sprinkles are made of.

6. DiGiorno’s Deadpool & Wolverine “The Wade Special” Frozen Pizza
If you’re looking for proof that movie tie-ins can go too far, check out this DiGiorno pizza! It’s a nod to the first Deadpool movie, where Wade Wilson orders a pizza with both pineapple and olives – hence the name, “The Wade Special.” Released alongside Deadpool & Wolverine, the unusual pineapple and olive combination also seems to mirror the film’s title characters, who famously don’t get along – just like those two toppings! I personally enjoy olives and even Hawaiian pizza sometimes, but olives and pineapple together? It’s a strange mix.

5. IHOP’s The Lorax Gren Eggs and Ham
IHOP and Dr. Seuss make a fun pairing, much like green eggs and ham – a dish IHOP has featured several times when new Dr. Seuss movies come out. Those “green eggs” were actually scrambled eggs mixed with creamed spinach – a playful treat for fans of The Lorax.
It’s safe to say IHOP sold a lot more of their colorful “Truffula Chip Pancakes” (with rainbow sprinkles and strawberry yogurt) than the spinach eggs! They even offered a blueberry pancake inside a waffle cone, which was pretty unusual. Compared to that, the green Grinch pancakes were fairly normal.

4. Denny’s Fantastic Four Slamtastic 4 Menu (Including Thing Burger [With Thing Sauce])
Imagine a burger made with a freshly pressed beef patty, crispy hash browns, your choice of egg, cheddar cheese, and two slices of bacon, all served on a bun coated in baked cheddar. That’s Denny’s “Thing Burger,” created as part of their limited-time “Slamtastic 4” menu to celebrate the 2015 Fantastic Four movie. And yes, it was topped with a special “Thing sauce!” While Denny’s *Fantastic Fourthemed menu was unusual – they also offered clear citrus syrup with pancakes and a spicy sausage and egg skillet – most people agreed the movie itself was the biggest disappointment.

3. Van Leeuwen’s Glass Onion Ice Cream
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream took the idea of a mystery flavor to the next level when they created a special edition inspired by the movie Glass Onion, a sequel to Knives Out. They deliberately kept the flavor a secret, and it wasn’t just for fun—they didn’t want people to know it was onion! Yes, you read that right: onion ice cream. I tried it, and it genuinely tasted like cold French onion soup. It would have been perfect as a themed treat for the movie Apocalypse Now—it was surprisingly unsettling!

2. Denny’s The Hobbit Menus
By the early 2010s, chain restaurants and Hollywood were already familiar partners, but Denny’s collaboration with The Hobbit films was unprecedented. Unlike typical promotions featuring a single themed item or a movie tie-in toy with a kids’ meal, Denny’s created entire menus inspired by the first two Hobbit movies, An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug.
Standout dishes included “Lonely Mountain Treasure” (French toast pieces with cream cheese dip), the spicy “Smaug’s Fire Burger,” “Radagast’s Red Velvet Pancake Puppies,” and a “Hobbit Hole Breakfast.” These menus generated a huge buzz on social media, essentially creating the trend of highly shareable, movie-themed food we see today.

1. IHOP’s Horton Hears a Who Who-Cakes
Some of Denny’s limited-time Hobbit menu items were pretty over-the-top, but they don’t compare to one particularly wild creation IHOP made in 2008 to promote Horton Hears a Who. It was a stack of pancakes covered in rainbow chocolate chips and blueberry and boysenberry sauces, all topped with a giant lollipop. The promotional pictures were crazy, but photos customers took of the actual dish were even more unbelievable. And yes, IHOP also had green eggs and ham to tie into the Horton theme – because who wouldn’t choose eggs and spinach over pancakes with a lollipop?
