Portia Jett, who is divorced from Ore Oduba, has publicly criticized his parenting after he recently shared that he struggles with porn addiction.
As someone who’s followed a lot of blended family dynamics, I saw this hilarious – but sadly relatable – post circulating. It was a meme co-parenting coach Chantal Contorines shared, and it perfectly captured the struggle sometimes! Basically, someone asked how co-parenting was going, and the response was a clip of John Cleese from Monty Python repeatedly hitting his head against a wall. It’s a funny way to say it’s…challenging, to put it mildly!
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen this pattern far too often. Let me be clear: healthy co-parenting is simply impossible with someone who’s controlling, intentionally hurtful, or frankly, doesn’t prioritize their children’s well-being. If the other parent seems to dislike you more than they love their kids, or lacks the capacity for genuine love, attempting to co-parent will only cause more damage. Protecting yourself and your children means recognizing when a co-parenting relationship is toxic and setting firm boundaries – or even stepping away entirely.
She re-shared the post shortly after he discussed his struggles on the “We Need To Talk” podcast. He revealed he’d been battling porn addiction since childhood, and described how it had deeply damaged his life.
Okay, so before she posted anything about co-parenting, Portia shared this amazing photo of Roman and Genie, her precious kids with Ore! And get this – she paired it with Taylor Swift’s song ‘Father Figure’! The lyrics are all about protecting your family, and it just felt like… a message, you know? Like she’s fiercely protective of her babies, and it was so sweet and a little bit telling, honestly. I’ve had that song on repeat ever since!

Oh my gosh, I was so shocked to hear that Portia and Ore are officially over! I remember when they first got together back at uni – they seemed SO perfect. It’s been nine years, nine years of them together, and then last October they announced they were splitting up. I was hoping it was just a rough patch, but Ore just confirmed on Paul’s podcast that they’re actually divorced now. I’m absolutely gutted for them, honestly.
People were surprised by a video Portia shared on Tuesday. She captioned it with a relatable question: “Can you relate?”
It’s impossible to successfully co-parent with someone who dislikes you more than they care for their children – especially if they struggle to genuinely love anyone, including their kids.
Or someone unable to find common ground, show kindness, understand others’ feelings, treat people with respect, or prioritize anyone else – even their own kids. It’s simply impossible to have a productive conversation with them…
There’s no way to find common ground. You can’t honestly discuss how your children are doing or work together to support them…
It’s best to avoid being truly honest or open with this person. Anything you share with them could be used against you, perhaps not immediately, but definitely at some point in the future.
It’s impossible to successfully co-parent with someone who tries to control and harm you, especially if they can’t let go of the need to have power over you.

It’s impossible to have a logical discussion with someone who is acting illogically, doesn’t consider the consequences of their behavior, and is indifferent to the impact on their children.
Someone who consistently puts their own needs first, viewing their children solely as a way to feel good about themselves and a tool to inflict pain on others…
When someone treats co-parenting like a battle, determined to ‘win’ at all costs – even involving children in the conflict – that’s not true co-parenting…
This is a deliberate effort to wear you down completely – affecting your finances, mental health, emotional well-being, physical health, and even your spiritual outlook – all while cutting you off from friends, family, or anyone who could offer help.
Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Ore and Portia for comment.
Ore confessed on the podcast that he’d been struggling with addiction since he was nine years old, which continued throughout his marriage to Portia.
On the podcast, Ore, the 39-year-old star of Strictly, shared that his addiction has been incredibly damaging, essentially ruining his life. He explained that he only overcame his addiction about a year and a half ago.

He explained that it took him three decades, along with the loss of two loved ones and a divorce, to finally overcome his shame and share his story.
The father of two decided to share his concerns now because he wants to raise awareness about children being exposed to inappropriate content on social media.
Ore spoke with deep emotion, explaining that he was risking everything to protect his own children and to warn others about the dangers facing young people today. He feels children are easily exposed to harmful things through technology and wants to help them navigate these risks.
He admitted to feeling mostly terrified, seeing this as a major turning point in his life. He believes everything that follows will define the rest of his days.
Ore described being first exposed to adult content by an older friend’s brother. He explained it sparked his curiosity and felt like a new world opening up. While he didn’t become immediately addicted, he was instantly captivated.

It didn’t take long for me to become fascinated, because at nine years old, I didn’t fully understand what was going on.
Driven by curiosity and a desire to recapture that initial spark, they began searching for similar experiences – whether through television, magazines, or other media.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen this pattern time and time again, and honestly, it’s something even a child can recognize. The core issue with this particular addiction is the intense shame surrounding it. It’s so difficult to discuss because it feels like it embodies everything we dislike and judge in ourselves and others. It’s a deeply uncomfortable truth that keeps people silent.
