Ore Oduba has admitted he has lost thousands of pounds to his 30 year porn addiction.
Last year, the 40-year-old former Strictly Come Dancing champion revealed he was struggling with a pornography addiction that he described as devastating to his life.
Ore has revealed a childhood addiction to adult images, starting at age nine, drove him to consider suicide. He’s now speaking out to raise awareness about the dangers of children being exposed to sexual content on social media.
In a recent interview discussing his financial ups and downs, he admitted to spending thousands of dollars on pornography.
Ore, a father of two, separated from his wife, Portia, in September 2024 after nine years of marriage. He recently shared in an interview that he’s accepted the need to sell their family home following the separation.
The ex-CBeebies host rose to national fame after winning Strictly Come Dancing in 2016, during the show’s highest-rated final ever.
He’s since found success in musical theatre, most notably playing Caractacus Potts on the UK tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and has continued to perform in various shows recently.
But his career choices, alongside his porn addiction, has led to periods of financial instability.
Shortly after appearing on Strictly Come Dancing, the star became self-employed after previously working for the BBC. He told The Sunday Times that while he’s always aimed to live within his budget, Strictly had led him to believe he had more financial security than he actually did.
Ore and his former partner, Portia, sold the family home they purchased in Kent in 2022 earlier in the year. Portia shared that their children, seven-year-old Roman and four-year-old Genie, were very upset by the move.
In March, Portia, 36, shared with her social media followers that they were selling their house. She explained it was a difficult conversation, particularly for her son, Roman, who was very upset by the news.
‘I wanted to let the kids know, I tried to explain why. It’s gutting, and I’ve known for a while.’
Ore has confessed he’s now questioning whether buying a home is a good investment. He told The Sunday Times that after owning property, some recent information he’s seen makes him doubt if it’s as efficient an investment as he once thought.
Much of my life has unfolded as if predetermined, following what I considered normal and conventional ways of doing things.
Selling my house doesn’t automatically mean I’m ready to buy a new one. I’m still exploring different investment options to find what’s best for me.
I’ve honestly been thinking about buying a motorhome and getting a dog – that feels more like ‘home’ to me than a traditional house. For me, home isn’t about the building itself, but the feeling of freedom and companionship.
Portia, who used to work as a TV researcher, has recently retrained and is now a qualified personal trainer.
