Oracle CEO Safra Catz exits Disney’s board of directors
As a dedicated follower of both the tech and media industries, I have always admired Safra Catz’s impressive career trajectory. Her appointment to the Walt Disney Co. board of directors six years ago was a testament to her business acumen and strategic vision. I’ve been consistently impressed by how she helped shape Disney’s long-term plans amid the rapidly changing technological landscape, especially considering her demanding role as CEO of software powerhouse Oracle since 2014.
According to Disney, Safra Catz, CEO of Oracle Corp., is set to step down from their board of directors effective this coming Friday.
For six years, Catz held a spot on the board. Once she left, there would be eleven board members remaining instead of the usual twelve.
Disney CEO Bob Iger acknowledged Catz’s significant impact on the company, stating in a release that her role was pivotal in shaping Disney’s future strategic directions as we navigate the fast-paced technological transformations influencing our businesses.
“It has been a privilege for me to be part of Disney’s Board, and I am particularly pleased with the efforts we have made to build upon Disney’s unique advantages and carry on its tradition of groundbreaking creativity,” Catz expressed in a statement.
Catz has served as CEO of software stalwart Oracle since 2014.
As a seasoned entrepreneur with a rich background in technology and business, I’ve always been fascinated by the world of entertainment. And now, it seems that Larry Ellison, Oracle co-founder and my esteemed mentor, is taking his passion to new heights. His recent involvement in the industry is nothing short of inspiring.
