OpTic Texas win COD Champs 2024, Shotzzy claims MVP award

As someone who has been following and playing Call of Duty esports for years, I have to admit that this year’s Major IV tournament has been nothing short of exciting! Having seen many teams rise and fall throughout the seasons, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I look at the final standings.

OpTic Texas have won the 2024 Call of Duty League Championship!

At COD Champs 2024 in Texas, OpTic Texas emerged as the champions of the Call of Duty League, winning the biggest tournament of the year. The atmosphere was electric with an enthusiastic crowd that kept the energy high throughout the weekend. OpTic’s dedicated fanbase, known as The Greenwall, made their presence felt strongly, particularly on Championship Sunday. With this victory, OpTic Texas concluded their Call of Duty League season in triumph, claiming their first world title since 2017.

OpTic Texas vs. New York Subliners: The Road to COD Champs 2024 Championship Sunday

Expert commentators on Call of Duty were quite critical towards OpTic Texas after their disappointing showing at Major 4. Following a victory at Major 3, OpTic failed to advance past the tournament’s last place, leaving many uncertain about their prospects in Allen, Texas, during this weekend’s event.

In the end, OpTic Gaming remained consistent as they advanced to the Call of Duty Champs 2024 Grand Finals by defeating LA Guerillas, LA Thieves, and New York Subliners. On the opposite side, New York Subliners triumphed over Toronto Ultra in the Lower Bracket Finals, securing a rematch against OpTic.

OpTic defeat Subliners 5-1 to claim the organization’s second World Championship

At Championship Sunday of The COD Champs 2024, it seemed like a battle between OpTic Texas’s four players and their 8,000 fans against the defending World Champions, New York Subliners. Prior to the start of the games, the last OpTic team that won the World Championship, featuring Seth “Scump” Abner, Ian “Crimsix” Porter, Matthew “FormaL” Piper, and Damon “Karma” Barlow, made an appearance before the current roster. This symbolic gesture set the tone as OpTic Texas took control of the competition.

During the Grand Finals, the Subliners managed to secure only one map victory. On the other hand, OpTic dominated with impressive wins in maps one, two, four, five, and six. The final showdown took place on Invasion’s Control map, an unremarkable choice for excitement but an exception in this case.

In statistical terms, newcomers Pred and Kenny from MW3 stood out with a K/D ratio of 1.10 and 1.07 respectively. The competition was heavily dominated by OpTic Texas, resulting in their triumph at COD Champs 2024.

Final Map Count

  • Map 1 (Hardpoint on Karachi): OpTic defeat Subliners 250-212
  • Map 2 (Search & Destroy on Karachi): OpTic defeat Subliners 6-5
  • Map 3 (Control on Karachi): Subliners defeat OpTic 3-1
  • Map 4 (Hardpoint on Rio): OpTic defeat Subliners 250-130
  • Map 5 (Search & Destroy on Invasion): OpTic defeat Subliners 6-3
  • Map 6 (Control on Invasion): OpTic defeat Subliners 3-2
  • Final Score: OpTic defeat Ultra 5-1

Shotzzy becomes a certified superstar, wins the MVP award

At COD Champs 2024, all four OpTic Texas team members performed well. However, it was Shotzzy who received the Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade, ending an extraordinary weekend with a K/D ratio of 1.18. Furthermore, Shotzzy now owns two major championship titles – a Call of Duty World Championship and a Halo World Championship.
