Oprah’s ‘Crocodile Tears’: Did She REALLY Cry Watching Gayle Blast Off to Space?
Oprah Winfrey has faced allegations that her tears were not genuine when she witnessed her close friend, Gayle King, being launched into space.
I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the screen on Monday as I watched my idol, Oprah Winfrey, at 71, shed tears while taking off her sunglasses, revealing a mix of emotions as her friend, also 70, embarked on an all-female mission aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket. It was an unforgettable moment for me, an ardent fan, witnessing such a powerful display of female empowerment and friendship.
But several netizens expressed doubts that the tears were sincere in a series of hilarious tweets.
‘oprah seeing the cameras were on her and doing a fake cry ~bit is classic oprah,’ one wrote.
‘Oprah fake crying like she ain’t Force Gayle to do that fieldtrip,’ one posted.
A person shared an iconic meme depicting a lady shedding tears onstage, followed by a defiant grin as she posed for the camera.

‘Oprah with the fake crying as soon as she noticed the camera on her. #BlueOrigin,’ one wrote.
A user expressing doubt who is an admirer of X wrote: “I found it interesting that @Oprah began to cry and took off her glasses when the camera focused on her, followed by an emoji suggesting disgust.
‘Oprah crying happy tears cause she AINT going,’ another observed.
11 minutes??? I can’t believe it! And they had Oprah out there pretending to cry, shaking my head in disbelief.
In summary, they turned on the program for approximately 30 seconds, witnessed Oprah appear to shed tears, but soon lost interest and switched it off.
‘That’s some crocodile tears ma’am,’ another noted.
She observed it…as she noticed the camera was pointing at her, she scrunched up her face in discomfort and started tearing up, as if trying to turn the situation into a personal drama.
At the launch pad, Gayle’s dear companion Oprah, present to offer encouragement, shared with journalists that this journey held immense significance for Gayle because of her aversion to flying.
Oprah expressed deep pride, stating that this space voyage means far more than simply traveling to space for Gayle. In fact, if there’s even a hint of turbulence during flights, Gayle would be held tightly by someone else.

She experiences intense anxiety when flying. Overcoming this fear might prove therapeutic or relieving for her.
Besides the main team of six, there were additional members such as Jeff Bezos’ partner Lauren Sanchez, pop star Katy Perry, movie producer Kerianne Flynn, advocate Amanda Nguyen, and ex-NASA rocket engineer Aisha Bowe.
A few days prior to their journey, it seemed like Gayle subtly criticized Jeff, disclosing that she had raised doubts about certain high-profile choices he’s made lately.
Last week, Gayle engaged in a conversation with her CBS Mornings co-host, Vlad Duthiers. During this discussion, she was questioned about what her response would be towards critics who view her spaceflight as a promotional endeavor for Jeff, who is 61 years old and the head of his company.

‘Listen, it is troubling for me too,’ she began.
‘There have been some questions and some decisions that he has made that I’ve actually gone, “Huh?”
‘But I think in this particular case, I think this is so much bigger than one man and one company.’
Gayle added: ‘I’ve chosen to separate the two. It’s not a zero-sum game.

‘You can do this one the one hand, and this on the other hand. And both things can be true.’
In the past few weeks, there’s been a lot of buzz surrounding Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, partly because of his intentions to redesign The Washington Post’s Opinion section with a focus on advocating for ‘individual freedoms and free-market economics.’
Immediately following the announcement in February, there was an influx of subscribers canceling their service in protest, along with several resignations from staff members.
This week, Gayle shared with DailyMail.com that she’s planning to take a group of beloved plush toys on her upcoming space journey as a source of comfort.
She shared: ‘I am not getting my bag together, because what do you put in a bag to go to space?

I wondered which of their beloved stuffed toys would bring comfort during my space journey, so I asked my daughter and grandson to choose their favorites. As I look around now, he’s carefully considering the ones he wants to share with me on this adventure.
The elite team soared through the sky for approximately 11 minutes, ascending to a height of 62 miles or roughly 100 kilometers, thus surpassing the Karman Line, the recognized threshold marking the beginning of space.
The NS-31 mission by Blue Origin took off from their Launch Site One, located around 30 miles north of Van Horn, Texas, at 2:30 PM British Summer Time (which is 9:30 AM local time).
In simpler terms, the New Shepard Spacecraft propelled its capsule almost double the speed of sound towards the border of space. After separation, the astronauts enjoyed several minutes without gravity’s pull (weightlessness).
During that timeframe, the spacecraft’s capsule surpassed the Karman Line, marking its transition from Earth’s atmosphere and officially entering space.
After that, the capsule traveled back to Earth, causing the crew inside to exclaim due to the deploying parachutes.
Approximately eleven minutes following takeoff, the New Shepard spacecraft gently landed nearby the launch site, a location where Jeff Bezos, founder of Blue Origin and Amazon, stood ready to unlatch the capsule’s hatch.
