Oprah Winfrey Subpoenaed in Shocking Russell Simmons Rape Case!

Oprah Winfrey has been dragged into hip-hop icon Russell Simmons‘ high-profile rape case.

The wealthy individual aged 71 has been summoned by Drew Dixon, who claims to be a victim of Simmons, as part of her on-going defamation case against the rapper, according to Page Six’s report.

In a lawsuit, Dixon is taking action against Simmons due to comments he made during a 2023 interview concerning her rape allegations and also because Winfrey stepped down from producing a 2020 documentary about the scandal.

In my own words, I’d say: I found out that Simmons asserted Winfrey stepped back from the project due to discrepancies she uncovered in Dixon’s and other accusers’ narratives upon examining recorded discussions.

Currently, lawyers representing Dixon are requesting that Winfrey provide them with documents and additional evidence. They’ve set a deadline of March 18th for this information, placing the responsibility on Winfrey to comply.

They also commanded Winfrey testify and give a deposition that ‘may be videotaped’

‘This is a formal request for you to provide the books, records, documents, and other physical items listed in detail in Schedule A, attached herein, at Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, located at 55 Hudson Yards, New York, New York 10001, by March 18, 2025. Alternatively, you may submit these materials electronically to the counsel named in this subpoena. Please comply with this request.’

This version maintains the legal formality while making it easier for a layperson to understand and follow the instructions.

You’re instructed to show up and be present before a notary public or someone legally allowed to administer oaths. This includes any rescheduled or postponed dates. At these times, you will be required to provide testimony and evidence as a witness during a pre-trial deposition, which is an examination conducted through oral questions.

The recordings showed that the proceedings would be video recorded, and they would carry on daily until the entire deposition was finished.

As per Page Six, it’s undetermined whether Oprah Winfrey fulfilled the requirements stated in the subpoena by the March 18 cutoff, or if her legal team took steps to contest it instead.

It’s also unclear what assets were called for.

2024 saw Dixon filing a defamation lawsuit, prompted by Simmons’ comments about her accusations, made during an interview with Graham Besinger in the previous year (2023).

It appeared as if he implied that Dixon was yearning for recognition and pursuing notoriety by alleging that he had raped her in his apartment three decades back.

He additionally emphasized that all his relationships with women were consensual, and he has never used force in any of them.

During the same conversation, he mentioned that Oprah’s departure from “On The Record,” a documentary concerning the accusations against Marion Simmons and his alleged rape victims, was likely due to her discovering discrepancies in the accounts of women like Dixon.

Simmons asserted that Winfrey possessed tapes of the victims which apparently exposed ‘discrepancies.’
