Oprah Winfrey was seen looking fit and healthy while visiting a gym near Santa Barbara on Friday.
The talk show host, turning 72 later this month on January 29th, was spotted walking to her car after a workout.
In 2023, the celebrity revealed she had used weight loss drugs, such as Ozempic or Wegovy, to help her lose weight.
Oprah Winfrey wore fitted blue leggings with a white, long-sleeved shirt and comfortable sneakers.
She wore a thick headband to keep her hair back and carried a small, brown purse.
The TV personality recently revealed she’s been using GLP-1 medication and has also made changes to her lifestyle, including exercising six days a week.
She will focus on various routines such as running on the treadmill, hiking or also weight lifting.
Oprah Winfrey recently told People magazine that she doesn’t relate to feeling tired when she skips her workouts.
In the early 1990s, the author reached her highest weight of 237 pounds. While her current weight isn’t public, she’s stated her goal is to weigh 160 pounds.
I used to think it was a matter of self-control, but I realized I wasn’t the one to blame. Now, I feel more energetic and truly alive than ever before.
Oprah Winfrey shared that she’s committed to a fitness plan and has also given up alcohol.
She said she’s been sober for years, and what’s even more surprising is that she doesn’t even crave alcohol anymore.
The media personality continued, saying she barely recognizes herself anymore, but she is happy with who she’s become.
Oprah Winfrey recently shared on the Today show that she regained weight after she stopped using the GLP-1 medication.
The celebrity shared that they stopped taking their medication for a year to see what would happen, and as a result, gained 20 pounds.
Everyone kept telling me I’d gain weight, so I decided to prove them wrong by going for a hike.
Oprah explained that after stopping the medication, she slowly started gaining weight – first three pounds, then five, and eventually ten – and soon her intense cravings returned.
Even though she maintained a healthy diet, she regained weight whenever she stopped taking the medication.
In 2023, Oprah Winfrey revealed she was using a weight loss medication, explaining to People that she now uses it when needed to help her maintain a stable weight and avoid fluctuations.
She expressed immense relief and gratitude that there’s now a medically accepted treatment for weight management and improved health, something she feels is a true gift and allows her to live without shame or fear of judgment.
‘I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself,’ the star said.
Oprah Winfrey shared that she’d previously suggested weight loss medications to others before deciding to try them herself.
In February 2024, she resigned from the WeightWatchers board after revealing she had used medication to help her lose weight.
Oprah Winfrey recently shared more details about her weight loss and a key realization she had while appearing on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast.
She recalled finding out that when it came to losing pounds – it was beyond her control.
I was shocked – it wasn’t my fault at all. After years of dieting and trying so hard, only to relapse each time, I felt like I was constantly struggling, climbing an incredibly difficult mountain, and really suffering through it.
She explained to the host, with clear emotion, that she wasn’t to blame, and that the situation was a product of the moment and the specific circumstances of 2023.
In the podcast, the celebrity reminisced about a 1988 show segment where she dramatically displayed 67 pounds of fat. She also revealed she had severely restricted her eating for almost five months leading up to it.
Earlier this year on her podcast, the celebrity talked about GLP-1 medications with Dr. Ania Jastreboff.
I quickly understood, when I first tried a GLP-1 medication, that I’d always wrongly believed willpower was the main reason some people are naturally thin.
She realized what she’d previously called willpower wasn’t about strength, but simply a lack of distracting thoughts about food.
I noticed right away when I started taking the GLP-1 medication that people were just eating normally – when they felt hungry, and stopping when they were satisfied.
In her new book, Enough, Oprah Winfrey shares her personal experiences and challenges with weight and achieving body acceptance.
The star co-wrote the book with Jastreboff – which recently hit shelves last week on January 13.
