Oops! Australia’s ABC hit with hundreds of complaints after US broadcaster of the same name suspended Jimmy Kimmel

Australia’s public broadcaster, the ABC, has received a huge number of angry emails, but surprisingly, the complaints aren’t about anything the organization has done.

It’s been so frustrating to see the ABC getting unfairly attacked lately! Apparently, some really upset Jimmy Kimmel fans are blaming them because his show isn’t airing in the US anymore. It’s a total misunderstanding, and the ABC had nothing to do with it, but people are just venting their anger in the wrong place. As a long-time supporter of the ABC, I’m really disappointed to see them caught in the crossfire.

The situation began last week when Jimmy Kimmel, 57, discussed the incident involving Charlie Kirk and the alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, during his show’s opening segment.

His remarks caused a strong public reaction, and as a result, the US ABC Network – which is a distinct entity – temporarily took Jimmy Kimmel Live off the air.

But confused viewers mistakenly directed their outrage at Australia’s ABC.

‘I will NEVER watch ABC again — Free speech is gone. Go Jimmy Kimmel!’ one furious fan emailed.

People are upset with ABC over Jimmy Kimmel’s recent segment, claiming it violated constitutional rights. Many are now planning to stop watching the network, feeling ABC has gone too far in appeasing the president and has disappointed the American public.

‘I will contact and boycott ALL business that sponsor ABC’s shows!’ a third sniped.

ABC Australia is a public broadcaster and is completely separate from the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) in the US. The US ABC is a commercial network owned by Disney.

Just before his show was cancelled, reports emerged that Jimmy Kimmel had informed Disney executives he planned to respond to criticism of his comments about Charlie Kirk in a manner likely to further anger supporters of Donald Trump.

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, found out on Wednesday afternoon that his show would be going on pause after 22 years in its late-night time slot.

Dana Walden, a co-chairman at Disney Entertainment, reportedly told Stephen Colbert that his on-air comments about the Kirk character’s death were the reason for his departure, according to Deadline.

On September 10th, Kirk was fatally shot while speaking with students at Utah Valley University.

On his show Monday, Kimmel stated that supporters of Donald Trump, or the ‘MAGA gang,’ are frantically attempting to distance themselves from the person who attacked Charlie Kirk, and are trying to use the situation to gain a political advantage.

The person believed to be responsible for the shooting has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. He grew up in a conservative family and was living with his transgender partner when the attack occurred. Family members reported that he had become more involved in politics recently.

Even so, Jimmy Kimmel supposedly informed his producers that he planned to talk about Donald Trump’s supporters during his next show. He wanted to both challenge their views and explain his original point more clearly.

CNN reports that a source close to the situation said Jimmy’s monologue would have been a point of no return if he’d delivered it. The source explained that those involved want Jimmy to return, but he needs to calm things down first.

Disney worried that comments made by Kimmel might be seen as further provoking conservative voters, according to Deadline.

Those with influence worried that taking further steps might compel them to make a lasting choice about the show’s future, Jimmy Kimmel Live.

People familiar with the situation say Disney wants Jimmy Kimmel to return to television quickly, but it’s unclear if he’s interested in coming back.
