As a seasoned gamer and TV connoisseur with an eye for intricate plot twists, I must say that Selena Gomez’s suggestion to turn her character Mabel Mora into the killer on Only Murders in the Building had me hooked! The idea of seeing such a beloved character potentially unveiled as the mastermind behind the mysteries would have added a thrilling layer of suspense and intrigue to an already engaging series.
Starring Selena Gomez on “Only Murders in the Building”, it was revealed that she proposed a more sinister angle for her character, Mabel Mora.
Last month, the comedy-mystery series made a comeback on both Hulu and Disney+, entering its fourth season. The storyline revolves around the primary trio – Charles (portrayed by Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Gomez) – who juggle their detective work with the recent taste of Hollywood stardom, maintaining a blend of crime-solving and celebrity life.
Although the central theme of the series revolves around the friendship (and the occasional disagreements) among the trio, Gomez disclosed in a conversation with Variety that during one season, she proposed a completely different concept for her role: to make her character the antagonist, even a killer!
As a gamer, I threw that idea out there. Frankly, I’m not too hopeful about it, but hey, you never know, right?
Even though Gomez’s idea might not materialize, viewers can still look forward to more hilarious stunts from the cast, as the show was renewed for a fifth season due to its consistent positive reviews.
The Daily Telegraph stated that “the appeal of Only Murders transcends its celebrity cast and the consistent supply of witty remarks and physical comedy,” emphasizing that “the series has consistently aimed at crafting an engaging mystery plot.
The review from “The Wrap” states that Season 4 maintains its dedication to providing an intriguing mystery, while “The Daily Beast” commented that the fourth season generated more laughter than any television comedy in the past year.
Additionally, RogerEbert.com penned a favorable critique, commenting: “In its fourth season, Only Murders in the Building skillfully combines famous actors portraying exaggerated versions of themselves with the engaging element of a play-within-a-play, resulting in quite an entertaining mix.
