Only Murders in the Building season 5 casts a two-time Oscar winner

2-time Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz is set to appear in the upcoming fifth season of “Only Murders in the Building“.

The award-winning actor known for his standout roles in “Inglorious Basterds” and “Django Unchained” is set to team up with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez for the upcoming season of Hulu’s comedy crime-mystery series. This show revolves around a group of three podcasters and amateur detectives (as reported by Variety)).

Of course, crucial plot points and character nuances are being kept secret for now, with Waltz joining as the most recent high-profile actor to join the ensemble after Keegan-Michael Key. Previously, stars like Meryl Streep, Paul Rudd, and Melissa McCarthy have made guest appearances on the series.

Besides his award-winning performances in Quentin Tarantino’s movies, Waltz has also taken on the role of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the villain, in the James Bond franchise. Some of his future projects involve playing Frankenstein and Dracula in a romantic tale titled “Dracula: A Love Story”.

The popular series “Just Murders,” initially conceived by Martin and John Hoffman, was given the green light for a fifth installment way back in September. Since its debut, it’s been showered with praise from critics and has even accumulated several Emmy nods.

In the fourth installment, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, and Zach Galifianakis portrayed fictionalized versions of themselves. The story then focused on Charles-Haden (Martin), Oliver (Short), and Mabel (Gomez) as they transitioned from New York City to Los Angeles at the beginning.

With Charles, Oliver, and Mabel hurrying back to New York, they launch themselves into a grander adventure – crossing the courtyard of their building to explore the intricate lives of the West Tower residents in the Arconia.
