Only Murders in the Building season 4 finale explained: Who killed Sazz?
As a die-hard fan of Only Murders in the Building, I must say this season has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! The heartbreaking goodbye to Sazz and the shocking revelation that her stunt protegee was the murderer kept me on the edge of my seat.
This year proved challenging for Charles, as he found himself both mourning the loss of a cherished friend and delving into the mystery surrounding her untimely death – reminiscent of an episode from “Only Murders in the Building.” The investigation reached its climax in the final episode with an unexpected twist, leaving us eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Only Murders in the Building season 4 finale.
The episode picked up with the big reveal that Marshall P. Pope, played by Jin Ha, was the murderer. He had been her stunt protegee, but things turned sour when Sazz wrote the original script for the Only Murders movie.
Upon discovering the script, Oliver and Charles hastened to reach Mabel’s Westie apartment in an attempt to rescue her before it was too late. Could they make it on time?
What happened to Marshall in Only Murders in the Building season 4?
In a race to rescue Mabel, it was ultimately Jan who proved to be the hero. She avenged Sazz’s death by shooting Marshall from within Charles’s apartment. It was later discovered that Jan had been secretly dwelling in the Arconia and hiding inside Charles’s closet throughout this time. Her sole motivation was revenge, and despite our reservations about her, it’s hard not to sympathize with her actions!
After Marshall’s passing, the film could continue its course. This was also the case when it came to Sazz’s initial screenplay, resulting in a poignant yet touching conclusion.
Setting up Only Murders in the Building season 5
Indeed, it wouldn’t be fitting for the series to conclude abruptly with a major disclosure. Each season has provided our intrepid podcasters with another intriguing murder mystery to unravel. In the same vein, season 4 promises to deliver yet another perplexing case.
At Oliver and Loretta’s wedding, things didn’t exactly run smoothly for me as a gamer. The ceremony itself was a sight to behold, but it all went downhill when I discovered my next big gaming event would be held in New Zealand – yippee! But then, there was an even bigger shocker: the discovery of a dead body. Not exactly how I expected my day to end.
This time around, who will the trio investigate as the victim turns out to be Lester, the cherished doorman, discovered lifeless and covered in blood within a fountain? The enigmatic Caccimelos were first introduced at the end of last season when Sofia embarked on a search for her husband Nicky. However, did they play a role in this tragic crime? We’ll have to wait for season 5 to uncover the truth.
Only Murders in the Building is available to stream on Hulu.
