The twists and turns had me gripping my remote control so tightly it could’ve passed as a stress ball.

Approaching swiftly is the final stretch of Only Murders in the Building Season 4, and Episode 8 served as a crucial installment that wrapped up one of this season’s murder mysteries. Here comes your spoiler alert, as we delve into the specifics of what transpired in Episode 8!

Now that the spoiler warning is out of the way…

To remind you all, episode 7 concluded with the surprising disclosure that the Westies were the ones depositing Dudenoff’s checks, and them discovering that Mabel, Charles, and Oliver had uncovered their strategy. After these revelations, the Only Murders crew and the actors gather together to brainstorm a strategy for confronting the Westies.

In the end, they choose to extend an invitation for a high-profile poker night at Oliver’s place, and their plan proves successful since the group arrives as expected. Initially, they appear unusually cordial, but the mood shifts dramatically when Vince locks the door, Rudy brandishes a knife, and Ana gathers everyone’s mobile devices.

Only Murders in the Building episode 8 reveals who killed Dudenoff

Once the cast of the Only Murders in the Building had found their footing, the Westies started sharing captivating tales about how they all became acquainted with Dudenoff and formed this unique group. Each member insists that neither they nor anyone else was responsible for Dudenoff’s death, claiming instead that he left for Portugal to pursue his dreams. However, the Only Murders team then adds a twist to the story by pulling off an unexpected move – a “ding-dong” – an idea inspired by daytime TV soap operas and involving a surprise with romantic overtones.

For the group’s ding-dong, they’ve called in Helga to help shine a light on what has really happened. Helga recalls her story of meeting Dudenoff and she fondly remembers that when she met the Westies she thought they were the nicest people she had met in New York and they all truly became a family. However, when the building’s power surged the night Dudenhoff left her a note about leaving for Portugal,  Helga recalled that this only happened when the old incinerator was used and grew suspicious.

As events unfolded, I found myself increasingly puzzled as my daily chats with the Westies dried up, only to be replaced by an unusual fixation on the Only Murders podcast. At first, I thought nothing of it, but then I started noticing their furtive glances and secretive behaviors. This piqued my curiosity, leading me to suspect that they might be concealing something – a suspicion that grew stronger when I suspected they could have been involved in the Dudenoff case.

Next, Mabel displays Dudenoff’s prosthetic shoulder to the group, urging them to confess their involvement in Dudenof and Sazz’s deaths, as well as their attempts on their lives. Although it appeared the Westies had murdered Dudenoff, it seems that Dudenoff was actually the one who orchestrated his own demise.

Hey there, as I share with you all, it wasn’t just Helga who got a mysterious note from Dudenoff the night he met his end. Each one of us Westies received a similar missive, inviting us to his funeral at midnight in the basement, with strict instructions not to let Helga know about it.

Upon their descent to the Arconia basement, they discovered Dudenoff seated there, anticipating their arrival. He confided in the gathering that his physicians had informed him he had only a few months left to live. In his final moments, he expressed concern that upon his passing, others would swoop in to claim the apartments, thereby dismantling the most remarkable ensemble of characters he had ever gathered.

His workaround is for the group to keep him alive by cashing his checks and telling everyone he moved to Portugal, a plan he tells the group after informing them he’s taking a mix of pills and needs them to put his body into the incinerator after the pills kill him. His one request is that the group does not tell Helga as he wanted to shield her from another loss knowing how she struggled with the death of her father – a confession he recorded in a message to Helga before his death.

Only Murders in the Building season 4 episode 8 ending explained: A new suspect in Sazz’s murder

After uncovering the facts regarding Dudenoff’s demise and the Westies’ involvement, The Only Murders team opted against reporting them due to Mabel’s strong desire to avoid disbanding the unconventional family they had formed through their shared experiences with Dudenoff.

After the difficult incident, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver meet up at Oliver’s home to discuss their future actions now that they’ve solved Dudenoff’s case and eliminated the Westies as suspects in Sazz’s death. It seems like they’re back to where they started regarding Sazz’s death, but then Helga unexpectedly arrives, adding a twist of its own to the episode.

As a gamer, I shared with my crew that Sazz was chattering away on the ham radio, and yes, he did bring up those inconsistencies in the “Only Murders” podcast plot. But let me tell you, that wasn’t all Sazz discussed. He also delved into other fascinating topics during his chat on the ham radio.

As Helga shares with everyone, Sazz mentioned that a stuntman from a film they were collaborating on, whom she had been mentoring, had made a serious mistake and was bothering Sazz. According to Sazz, this stuntman was a risky individual who she believed could potentially cause harm. So, the question arises: Who exactly was this risk-taking stuntman? It turned out to be none other than Gleb Stubbins!

So, it appears we’ve uncovered another crucial piece of the mystery as the season swiftly approaches its finale, with the Only Murders in our midst attempting to identify the person responsible for Sazz’s death and understand their motive.
