One Piece Season 3 Casts Two Major Villains As Filming Begins

Netflix is adding two key villains to the cast of its live-action One Piece series for the upcoming third season. This news follows the announcement that filming for season 3 has already started in Cape Town, South Africa. While season 2 is set to release on March 10, 2026, Netflix confirmed a renewal for season 3 back in August 2025.

According to Deadline, Awdo Awdo will play Mr. 1 and Daisy Head will play Miss Doublefinger in the upcoming third season. These characters are members of the criminal group Baroque Works and are key players in the Alabasta Arc, which the season will cover.

As the story moves into the Alabasta Arc, several actors who play key characters in One Piece will now be considered part of the main cast. This is because their roles are growing in the third season. These actors include Mikaela Hoover (Chopper), Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0), Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefartari Cobra).

The new actors all have some experience with major productions. For example, Mackenyu Arata isn’t new to Netflix, having played Genya Safin in the first two seasons of Shadow and Bone. He also appeared as Sofina in the 2023 film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and played Judy Talbot in an episode of Netflix’s The Sandman.

Awdo’s first and currently only on-screen role is in the 2024 short film Under Siege. However, he was already involved in other projects before being cast in One Piece. Because Mr. 0, the leader of Baroque Works, is played by Joe Manganiello, Awdo and Head will appear in many scenes alongside the True Blood star.

The new season will star Awdo and Head alongside returning cast members Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji). Charithra Chandran will also join the cast as Miss Wednesday.

Whether Netflix can successfully adapt the entire One Piece series is still uncertain, especially considering the anime’s length and the almost three-year wait between the first and second seasons. However, by casting important characters like Mr. 1 and Miss Doublefinger and starting production on new seasons well in advance, Netflix seems committed to shortening future breaks between seasons and delivering new episodes more quickly.
