The Elbaph arc of One Piece has been incredibly fast-paced, and chapter 1170, titled “Contrary,” suggests the popular manga will continue with the same energy. This chapter finally sees the end of King Harald’s destructive outburst, rescuing Elbaph from an invasion by Imu and the Celestial Dragons.
Beating King Harald was incredibly difficult, and tragically, his own son, Loki, was the one who had to kill the beloved ruler of Elbaph. To gain the power necessary, Loki ate the legendary Devil Fruit from the Land of Giants, creating a danger to the World Government unlike anything they’ve faced since the reappearance of the Sun God Nika.
Loki’s Devil Fruit Is the World Government’s Worst Nightmare
As a huge One Piece fan, I’m completely blown away by the implications of the Devil Fruit from Elbaph! At first, it seemed interesting, but now that we’re learning more about its powers, it’s becoming seriously terrifying. Apparently, according to Beardhill Jarul, this fruit could have given King Harald the power to destroy the world – and honestly, I don’t think that was just hyperbole! Loki really drove that point home when he first spoke to Luffy in Chapter 1130… it’s setting up to be something truly massive.
The theory that Loki’s Devil Fruit could destroy the world has been repeatedly supported, and now that we’ve finally seen it in action, it’s obvious the Giants of Elbaf weren’t exaggerating about how dangerous it is.
In One Piece Chapter 1170, Loki easily defeats King Harald. Even though much of his form is hidden, when he transforms, he becomes incredibly large—much bigger than other giants. This is an impressive victory, especially considering Harald previously fought well against powerful opponents like Scopper Gaban, Shanks, and Rocks D. Xebec.
Loki manages to defeat his father using a powerful combination of Conqueror’s Haki and lightning, but the unique power of the Giant’s Devil Fruit suggests it will be crucial in the final events of One Piece. With Imu and the Celestial Dragons planning to overwhelm the world, they now have a significant new obstacle. If Loki joins forces with Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates, it could spell disaster for their ambitions of global control.
Between Luffy and Loki, Imu’s Time at the Top Is Coming to an End
Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, have made many powerful friends across the Grand Line, including rulers like Nefertari Vivi and Boa Hancock. However, their possible alliance with Loki could be their most important partnership yet. It would combine two of the biggest challenges to Imu’s power, potentially changing the balance of power in the world of One Piece.
Imu has made it clear he wants Luffy to stop following him, especially after Luffy revealed his Gear 5 transformation. It’s also become apparent that Imu intends to conquer the world, and he was planning to use the Giants from Elbaph to do so. While the reasons for wanting Elbaph’s help aren’t fully known, Imu’s use of the Domi Reversi ability means Luffy, Loki, and their friends are now responsible for protecting Elbaph.
Loki, who lives in the Land of Giants, might be the only one who can help Luffy stop Imu’s attack. While Loki wants to destroy the world, his true target is Imu’s oppressive, worldwide government. His Devil Fruit power is almost certainly key to accomplishing this goal.
According to Harley, the world has actually been reborn twice already. So, when Loki talks about “destroying the world,” it might not be as catastrophic as it seems. The current world, similar to the setting in One Piece, is predicted to end when the Sun God celebrates – meaning Loki’s plans will likely involve Luffy and his powerful Gear 5 transformation.
