One Piece confirms extended hiatus
As a seasoned gamer and anime enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, the news about One Piece’s extended hiatus has left me feeling like Luffy after eating a Devil Fruit – utterly shocked and disoriented! I’ve been following this epic adventure since its inception, and the thought of waiting until April 2025 for the next installment feels like an eternity.
The animated series adaptation of One Piece has announced a prolonged break after airing its most recent episode.
Over the weekend, the long-running television series, based on the timeless manga, broadcasted its 1,122nd episode, which first began airing in 1999.
According to the latest update from Toei Animation, the current storyline (Egghead Arc) is going on a temporary hiatus and will resume again in April 2025.
Fret not, One Piece enthusiasts, for in the interim, a condensed 21-episode version of the One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Arc is set to air as a temporary substitute for your fix.
The latest edition boasts “improved modern graphics” and “revised introductory and concluding tunes,” along with a unique partnership with a guest collaborator, made possible through Crunchyroll.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that we have a unique treat coming our way! In celebration of “One Piece” turning 25, there will be a special episode premiering on October 20. This episode will pay tribute to the lasting impact of “One Piece” by showcasing a heartwarming reunion of the Straw Hat crew from an unexpected angle – through the eyes of non-pirate characters. The scene is set post the Summit War, in the Sabaody Archipelago. It promises to be a 30-minute spectacle that we fans won’t want to miss!
A young girl, inspired by Nami, takes the front seat, all set to embark on a journey that’s hers alone. This tantalizing hint suggests as much.
In the United Kingdom, it’s been announced that the animated series will be purchased by the BBC, with a total of ten story arcs set to air before the year 2024 comes to an end.
In the meantime, preparations are underway for the second season of the Netflix’s live-action version of “One Piece”. Filming is set to start this coming summer.
New additions to the cast include Magic Mike’s Joe Manganiello as villain Mr 0, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday, Bridgerton’s Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday and The Conners‘ Katey Sagal as Dr Kureha.
In the United Kingdom, you can currently watch “One Piece” on BBC iPlayer. If you’re interested in the live-action series, its first season is available for streaming on Netflix at the moment.
