‘One of the most electrifying shows of the year’: British series Bait debuts with 100% rating

Okay, so I just started watching Riz Ahmed’s new show, Bait, on Prime Video, and honestly, everyone’s raving about it. It’s hilarious! Riz wrote it himself and he’s the main character, playing this actor named Shah Latif who’s really down on his luck. I’m a few episodes in and it’s already really good.

Shah’s acting career is stalling, and he’s facing a critical moment with his newest audition – it could be his last chance to make it in the industry.

Shah is auditioning for the role of James Bond. If he gets the part, he would be the first actor of color to play the famous spy, and his career would likely take off.

Shah is already under a lot of stress, and things are made worse by his family and a former girlfriend, all of which is contributing to a deep personal crisis that affects everything he does.

The series features comedian Guz Khan (known from Taskmaster), Weruche Opia from I May Destroy You, and Rafe Spall. Bassam Tariq and Tom George, who worked on This Country, directed the episodes.
