One of the best vampire movies ever made is coming to Prime Video in November 2024

As a horror enthusiast with over two decades of spine-tingling experiences under my belt, I can confidently say that Abigail is a movie that will leave you spellbound! Having witnessed the evolution of horror cinema since the late ’90s, I’ve seen my fair share of vampire flicks. But none have ever managed to blend humor and horror as seamlessly as this masterpiece does.

Prepare yourself for an extraordinary cinematic adventure that will leave you spellbound! The highly-acclaimed vampire comedy film, Abigail, is coming to Prime Video in November 2024. If you’re seeking a heart-pounding and exhilarating horror experience, this movie is tailor-made for you. Mark your calendars as it will be available on Prime Video on November 19th.

Without a doubt, Abigail is widely regarded as one of the top horror movies released in 2024. Following its debut at the Overlook Film Festival in early April, it graced theater screens barely a week later. Unsurprisingly, moviegoers rushed to purchase tickets for this highly anticipated film. Critics and audiences alike have been captivated by its exceptional acting, intriguing and original concept, and the seamless balance of chills and laughter it offers.

To begin with, the fact that skilled artists like Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett were directing, along with Stephen Shields and Guy Busick writing the script, made this movie a promising watch from the get-go. Previously, these talented individuals had collaborated on successful films such as “Ready or Not,” “Scream” (2022), and “Scream VI.” Although “Abigail” didn’t quite match the box office success of those movies, it left a strong impression on viewers, with many of them returning multiple times to watch it again, myself included.

The plot centers on a group of criminals recruited by a shadowy fixer to kidnap the daughter of a powerful underworld figure. They are tasked with holding the 12-year-old ballerina hostage for one night in exchange for a $50 million ransom. But as the night unfolds, one by one, the captors are picked off, realizing with growing dread that they are trapped inside a secluded mansion with a far more dangerous child than they could ever have imagined. The young ballet-obsessed girl eventually reveals herself to be a vicious, centuries-old vampire and merciless killing machine who is out for blood.

Let’s delve into the impressive lineup of actors for a moment: Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, Will Catlett, Kevin Durand, Angus Cloud, Alisha Weir, and Giancarlo Esposito. These performances are truly remarkable! I must say, the casting was spot-on.

I’ve seen a good chunk of the actors’ past projects, which made me confident they’d deliver stellar performances. Among them, Alisha Weir, who portrayed the young ballet-vampire Abigail, truly stood out. Given her age, she’s already proving that she’s got the talent to reach great heights. I can’t wait to see more of her in upcoming roles! Ideally, she’ll star in more horror productions.

Universal Pictures, the movie’s distributor, has made available two official previews for “Abigail“. Take a look at them below!

Interested in knowing the opinions of some film critics regarding that recent vampire movie? Let me share a couple of reviews from Rotten Tomatoes with you:

Tossing a malicious vampire kid among squabbling, not-exactly-un-dangerous humans is a recipe for a wickedly enjoyable thrill ride. One of the messiest vampire movies ever made, and winningly so.

Kim Newman

With its clever premise, stellar cast, and over-the-top gore, “Abigail” is sure to satisfy horror fans craving a blood-soaked thrill ride. Possibly the most fun I’ve had with a horror film this year.

Linda Marric

As a fellow enthusiast, I’m just as excited about Abigail premiering on Prime Video! However, if you can’t wait that long, you’ve got options. You can stream it right now on Peacock with a subscription. Alternatively, you can rent or buy the movie digitally from platforms like FandangoNow, Amazon Video, Google Play Movies & TV, Apple TV+, or YouTube. Enjoy the show!
