One of the BBC’s best crime dramas, The Missing, is leaving Netflix soon.
In 2014, the initial eight-episode installment of an engrossing crime mystery unfolded, focusing on a missing child case in France. Tchéky Karyo portrayed the main investigator, Julien Baptiste, while James Nesbitt and Frances O’Connor played the desperate parents of the lost boy.
In 2016, another installment came about, this one centered around a vanished girl in Germany. Once again, Karyo appeared alongside David Morrissey and Keeley Hawes, who played the missing child’s parents. The first series, featuring Nesbitt’s portrayal of Tony Hughes, a grieving father, garnered significant acclaim, as did Karyo’s compelling performance as the detective. This resulted in the spin-off series “Baptiste” being introduced on BBC in 2019.

Although the program received numerous positive reviews, unfortunately, it wasn’t continued for a third season. Later on, its creators, Harry and Jack Williams, revealed that they preferred not to repeat the same plotlines.
However, Jack explained to Digital Spy that they were eager to avoid repetition. They had several concepts for a third series, but progressed with some of them only to find that nothing quite took hold.
