One of Marvel’s Best-Selling Comic Lines Is Coming to an End

Marvel’s Ultimate Universe is coming to an end.

Marvel’s Ultimate Universe is a separate reality within the Marvel Comics multiverse, overseen by writer Jonathan Hickman. Created by the character The Maker, this universe – known as Earth-6160 – retells the origin stories and core details of classic Marvel characters.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Marvel announced that the popular comic series Ultimate Spider-Man will conclude with its 24th issue this December. Writer Jonathan Hickman explained that this ending was always his intention for the series, which launched in January 2024, and he was pleased to have successfully carried out his original plan.

When will Marvel’s Ultimate Universe end?

Marvel has revealed plans to conclude its Ultimate Universe line in 2026, according to Popverse. All current Ultimate titles – including Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Black Panther, Ultimate X-Men, and The Ultimates – will finish with their 24th issue. Ultimate Black Panther will end in January, followed by Ultimate X-Men in February, and The Ultimates in April.

The Ultimate Wolverine comic will conclude in April after 16 issues, and the fifth and final part of the Ultimate Endgame storyline will mark the end of all comics set in the Ultimate Universe.

As a huge movie fan, I’m incredibly excited about the ‘Ultimate Endgame’ event kicking off in December 2024! It’s been teased as the big payoff for everything that’s been happening in the new Ultimate Universe, especially after the ‘Ultimates’ and ‘Ultimate Invasion’ storylines. Basically, two thousand years have passed in this universe, but the villain, the Maker, has been secretly preparing for a comeback inside a protected city. Now that the barrier around the city is down, heroes everywhere need to team up and stop him – the stakes are literally universe-ending! And to make things even more intense, the rest of the world is already dealing with World War III. It sounds like an epic, must-read event!
