Olympic swimmer Tom Dean ‘signs up for Strictly Come Dancing’ after winning gold in Paris amid the show’s spiralling scandal

As a seasoned observer and avid fan of Strictly Come Dancing for years now, I must say this ongoing saga is truly disheartening. The recent allegations against Graziano Di Prima, Giovanni Pernice, and the production team paint a grim picture that seems to contradict the joyful and vibrant image the show has always projected.

Olympic swimmer Tom Dean is said to be the newest celebrity joining the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing, according to reports.

As a 24-year-old swimming enthusiast, I proudly took part in the victorious British relay squad that clinched gold in the 4×200 men’s freestyle at the Olympic Games held in the city of lights, Paris, on this very remarkable Tuesday.

As reported by The Sun, upon his return to London, the swimmer plans to dive right into rehearsals for the BBC program without delay.

According to the source, it’s a significant achievement for the producers to secure an Olympian who just won gold at the Paris Games, as swimmers tend to excel as competitors on shows like this.

They are often seen as remarkable due to their fitness, competitive spirit, and unwavering drive to succeed; Tom is still buzzing with excitement following his triumph in France.

He may not currently possess the same level of achievement as leading swimmers, but it seems his stint on Strictly could significantly alter this situation in the future.

TopMob has contacted representatives of Strictly Come Dancing for comment.

In the 2002 European Championships, Tom, a native of Berks, took home three gold medals in team events, as well as two silvers. Additionally, he clinched a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle event on an individual basis.

In addition, he clinched two gold medals during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, one in the 200-meter freestyle event and another in the men’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay.

The swimmer was made an MBE in the 2022 New Year Honours.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel a thrill seeing Tom join the Strictly lineup. Ellie Simmonds danced her way into my heart in the 2022 season, while Adam Peaty wowed me in 2021, and Mark Foster made quite a splash back in the 2008 series. It’s truly captivating to watch athletes from different fields grace the Strictly ballroom!

The celebrity lineup for the 20th anniversary series is due to be released in the next few days.

Stars are now known to be joining the dancefloor during rehearsals, according to reports.

Previously, it emerged that TOWIE’s Pete Wicks decided to participate, even though it became known earlier this year that his friend, Zara McDermott, experienced both physical and verbal abuse from her dance partner, Graziano Di Prima.

In addition, it’s said that former Arsenal player Paul Merson and DIY SOS host Nick Knowles have apparently taken to the dance floor as well.

Based on a Reddit post spotted by Metro, it appears that a list claiming to include the names of all 15 competitors has been released.

According to reports, the post appears to have been a private Instagram Story that was mistakenly or intentionally shown to a wider audience, as it was not intended for public viewing.

Notable figures such as Hannah Waddingham from the show “Ted Lasso,” Shobna Gulati known for “Coronation Street,” Janet Street-Porter who hosts “Loose Women,” Duncan James of the band “Blue,” and Kia Pegg, star of “Tracy Beaker Returns” were on the list.

According to reports, the caption apparently stated: ‘Obtained from a friend, and it looks thrilling! I can hardly contain my excitement, particularly since Hannah Waddingham is involved!’

It was revealed that Chris McCausland was included in a list of potential contestants for Strictly Come Dancing. This came after McCausland didn’t refute the show speculations during his conversation with Gyles Brandreth last month, and Brandreth himself was also named on the supposed leak.

Additionally, the list included Olympic legend Dame Laura Kenny, known for her roles in Outnumbered (Tyger Drew-Honey), stand-up comedian Sarah Millican, and actress Pearl Mackie, who has been a part of Doctor Who.

It appears that the last names mentioned were possibly Sunil Patel (an actor), Jordan North (a radio host), Jermaine Jenas (a former pro soccer player), and Shona McGarty (a TV star from EastEnders).

Meanwhile Death In Paradise actor Ralf Little has also been rumoured to be joining the lineup.

Upon receiving queries regarding the rumored roster, BBC’s Strictly representatives assured TopMob that the celebrities participating in this season will be unveiled as things progress.

On Monday, the troubled show faced even greater turmoil when crew members working behind the scenes labeled it as ‘toxic’ and ‘cruel’, due to its history of scandals.

Since the suspension of Giovanni Pernice on the BBC program, the series has been filled with drama due to Amanda Abbington’s allegations of abusive behavior against him. She described him as being both cruel and mean. However, he has denied these accusations.

Following the recent news about my dismissal last month, there have been allegations that I displayed inappropriate behavior towards Zara during our rehearsals, involving both verbal and physical abuse.

Graziano expressed regret over the incident involving a kick directed at his ex-partner, stating that other accusations don’t correspond with his personal recollection of events.

Now, as reported by The Obscriber, the staff members working on the popular dance show are claiming they were questioned about their personal relationships or sexual activities.

One person expressed discontent over the fact that skilled colleagues were subjected to harshness, while another commented that the atmosphere on the set eight years ago was tense, poisonous, and awkward.

Later on, they shared with the media that they had received inappropriate remarks, such as questions concerning their personal intimate matters.

A representative from the BBC shared with the media that the well-being of the crew members involved in every season of Strictly Come Dancing is a top priority for them.

In responding promptly to any issues that arise, we’ve established robust, efficient, and enduring procedures to address them. However, we do not acknowledge allegations suggesting a harmful work environment.

TopMob has contacted the BBC for comment.

The statement follows closely on the heels of a new crisis in Strictly, as Amanda alleged that Giovanni was attempting to prevent the broadcast of approximately 50 hours of potentially harmful footage, which she had submitted as evidence for a bullying accusation made against him to the BBC.

During a passionate discussion with Channel 4 News, the actress, aged 50, likened the dance competition to the grueling conditions of a trench. She claimed that the BBC producers were shocked by footage, which also reportedly showed inappropriate and embarrassing behavior of a sexual nature.

Last year, the star of Sherlock unexpectedly withdrew from the dance contest, explaining it was due to personal matters. Later, it was disclosed that she had requested access to her rehearsal footage following a distressing encounter with the program and her dance partner, which allegedly resulted in PTSD for her.

Dear Giovanni,

In an unexpected turn of events within the Strictly storyline, the actress alleges that Giovanni attempted to prevent her lawyers from obtaining the video as evidence, following a situation where production crew had to install cameras in the dance studio due to Amanda’s worries.

As a dedicated follower, I found myself confronted with an astonishing 50 hours of blocked video content. Let me tell you, that’s a substantial amount of footage and an equally significant amount of time spent in an environment that was far from healthy or positive.

‘The proof exists somewhere regarding what transpired in that room, and I’m not the one preventing its disclosure. I’ve made it clear that others can view it, but he (Giovanni) seems hesitant for others to witness it, which could imply guilt if there’s nothing incriminating.’

As a devoted supporter of Giovanni, I would implore everyone to exercise patience until the conclusion of the review. Disregard the severe and slanderous accusations that currently circulate without any substantiating evidence.
