Olympia Valance is loving life as a new mom after welcoming her son, Billy, with her husband Thomas Bellchambers in December 2024.
After taking Billy to a baby gymnastics class, Olympia, 33, told the Daily Mail that it was the best experience of her life.
‘It’s beautiful, it’s chaotic, it’s exhausting, and magical all at once.
You can’t imagine how strong the love can be for a child. I’m totally head-over-heels for him, honestly.
‘I mean, I’m tired all the time, but it’s the best kind of tired.’
The actress, known for her role on Neighbours, revealed that her strong affection for Billy has rubbed off on her husband, Thomas, a 36-year-old Australian rules football player. He’s really enjoying being a loving father.
‘Oh, God. He absolutely adores being a dad. It’s my favourite version of him,’ she gushed.
He’s very involved and patient, and a real hard worker. But as soon as he gets home, he’s all about being a dad. Becoming parents has really strengthened our relationship.
Olympia clearly loves being a mother, but she admitted that pregnancy really affected her skin in a way she didn’t enjoy.
She explained that her skin underwent a dramatic transformation during pregnancy. It was really unpredictable, with her skin tone changing noticeably.
Olympia added that she quickly realised that one secret to sumptuous skin was to keep it simple.
Oh my gosh, her skin used to be so bad with melasma, and it was just constantly dry! Honestly, she figured out pretty quickly that all those complicated routines and harsh products she was using were actually making everything worse. Like, she realized she needed to stop stripping her skin and just… simplify things. It was such a game changer for her!
Olympia said that the secret to glowing skin can be unlocked with one word – hydration.
My skincare focus is on building up moisture and maintaining a healthy skin barrier. When skin is well-hydrated, it naturally looks healthier, brighter, and more radiant.
As a lifestyle expert, I wasn’t surprised to learn that Olympia recently teamed up with Hada Labo Tokyo! It’s a perfect fit – she’s promoting their Skin Plumping Gel, and honestly, it makes total sense given her focus on wellness and self-care. It’s a brand I’ve been keeping an eye on, and I think this partnership will really highlight its benefits.
She said that the partnership made perfect sense, with Billy taking up most of her time.
Since becoming a mom, I just haven’t had the time for those elaborate skincare routines anymore, she explained.
I was really into this Japanese skincare trend that was becoming popular in Australia. It was straightforward, worked well, and prioritized healthy skin over time, instead of just temporary solutions.
I was really thrilled to get the chance to work with them. Their products focus on hydration, which is incredibly important to me – it’s the basis of everything I believe in,” Olympia explained.
Olympia tries to give Billy the healthiest meals possible, but being a new mom doesn’t leave much time for elaborate cooking.
It’s difficult to say exactly what I eat in a day, since it often consists of small things like the end of Billy’s sandwich or the leftover bits of a smoothie,” she said with a laugh.
I focus on making meals that are simple and good for us. I spend time each week preparing food, and because I prioritize healthy, organic ingredients that work for my son, Billy, I end up eating well too.
However, Olympia joked, that meal times don’t always work out in Thomas’ favour.
‘Poor Thomas just gets leftovers,’ she laughed.
You know, I used to be all about elaborate cooking – things like slow-cooked lamb shanks or comforting casseroles. But honestly, life has changed! Now, if my little one won’t eat it, then I just don’t bother making it. It’s all about simplifying things and making sure everyone at the table is happy, right?
The couple’s journey to parenthood was not without heartache, however.
I was so touched when Olympia shared her journey with IVF and the heartbreak of several miscarriages before finally having Billy. It really showed her strength and vulnerability, and I admire her for being so open about something so personal.
I’m so glad she’s speaking out about infertility and IVF! For too long, these things have been kept in the shadows, like something to be ashamed of. I really believe we need to talk about them openly and honestly, and she’s helping to make that happen.
Olympia has also advocated for a complete revision of school sex education, suggesting it should cover a wider range of topics.
She said that struggling with fertility was incredibly difficult, both for her and her husband, Thomas.
I recently became aware of how little education we receive about our own bodies. Many of us were raised with the expectation that getting pregnant would be simple, but that’s often not the reality.
She compared the situation to a funny scene in the movie Mean Girls, where the health teacher bluntly stated that sex leads to pregnancy. She pointed out that this isn’t always true and is an oversimplification.
Olympia admitted that talking about her personal challenges was difficult, but she believed it was important to share her story.
If sharing my experiences can help just one woman feel less isolated, or inspire someone to seek answers sooner, it’s all worthwhile. It seems like everyone I know – and I’m noticing this more as we all get older – is dealing with some kind of fertility challenge.
Olympia actively supports egg freezing, suggesting that young women explore it as a way to have more control over their future fertility.
She mentioned she hadn’t realized egg freezing was even an option, or that it was something achievable.
‘Every young woman should go and freeze their eggs – I wish I had done that earlier.
Women today have more flexibility in life. They aren’t pressured to choose between their careers and having children; they can start a family later if they wish. And they don’t have to compromise on finding a truly good partner just because they feel the need to have a baby.
She explained that everyone has a limited time to achieve their goals. Knowing you have resources set aside, she said, would give you the freedom to pursue them whenever you’re ready.
