Olly Murs promises his wife Amelia he’ll be coming ‘straight home’ as he returns to the stage at Radio 2 in the Park days after the birth of their second child

On Sunday following his performance at BBC Radio 2 In The Park, Olly Murs assured his wife Amelia that he would immediately return home, having made this promise just days after the arrival of their second child.

On Thursday, the 41-year-old singer and the 32-year-old fitness influencer announced that they had recently welcomed a new addition to their family – a son named Albert. This joyous event took place approximately one year following the birth of their daughter, Madison.

At the start of his performance at Hylands Park, Olly conveyed a brief sentiment to his spouse Amelia, expressing, “I’m surrounded by so many wonderful people here, and I love you. As soon as I’m done, I’ll head home right away, I promise!

While performing, Olly honored his deceased friend Caroline Flack by expressing that the song “Dear Darling” was a dedication to someone who had tragically taken their own life.

In the profound sorrow of Caroline’s untimely passing due to suicide back in February 2020, I, a devoted fan, have witnessed Olly honor her memory countless times on his stages.

Olly mentioned that the song was a tribute to someone he wished was present today, and who could be sharing this moment with him.

When I penned this song, I hadn’t foreseen the profound effect it would eventually have – not only on my own life but also on those close to me, and moreover on certain fans who are present here tonight.

If there’s someone special whom you wish were present today, someone you greatly miss, would you kindly assist me in singing this heartfelt song?

At the second day of Radio 2’s In The Park Festival held in Chelmsford, Olly appears alongside stars like Def Leppard, Louise Redknapp, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Anastacia performing on stage.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some joyful news from my personal life – this week, my family and I welcomed a new addition! Walking out of the hospital, beaming with happiness, we held our precious cargo in a cozy car seat, marking the beginning of an incredible journey.

Sharing this incredible moment with all of you! I’ve just welcomed a new member into our family – meet little Albert, joining us as the fourth! 🚀❤️”

This way, it sounds like an excited fan sharing news about their latest addition, while still maintaining a clear and easy-to-read format.

The couple announced Amelia’s second pregnancy in April.

In the video, monochrome in tone, a family of three was captured strolling in a park, with their eldest, Madison, perched on her father’s shoulders.

She donned a denim jacket emblazoned with the phrase ‘BIG SIS’, as Amelia clutched a roll of baby ultrasound photos. (Note: “clutch” means to hold something tightly, and “ultrasound photos” refers to pictures taken during an ultrasound scan.)

They penned in a caption: ‘We’re so egg-cited to share this..… Another Baby Murs on the way.’

In July 2023, Olly got married to his partner who was a bodybuilder, and they welcomed their daughter into the world on April 17th, 2024.

Olly mentioned that he intends to be more involved from the get-go in this instance, having departed only 48 hours post-delivery to join Take That on their tour.

At that moment, the performer shared with the audience about his busy routine involving diaper changes and sleepless nights, yet expressing remorse for being absent from home while working.

In my own words, I’d say: “This time has been nothing short of extraordinary. On one side, I’m blessed with a beautiful newborn daughter, who brings immense joy. Yet, on the other hand, my wife is diligently caring for her at home, handling diaper changes and sleepless nights.

‘And I’m on tour with Take That. I feel guilty!’

This year, Olly openly admitted that he cried upon being compelled to part ways with her only two days following her birth.

Months later, he acknowledged that the decision had taken an emotional toll on him, as he had never had the chance to bond with his daughter as a baby due to lacking prior knowledge about her.

During a conversation with new father Mark Wright on their Heart Breakfast program, Olly admitted, “Leaving just two days after the baby’s birth to embark on the Take That tour was incredibly challenging for me.

He shared that he hadn’t fully understood the situation initially, but a few months later, while talking with Amelia, he suddenly found himself overwhelmed with emotions. He had never had the opportunity to truly bond with this small infant who passed away.

Affirming his friend’s choice to prioritize work over family, Mark gently expressed, “You were certainly making these sacrifices for her future.

During his tenure with Take That, Olly hastened back to Essex following performances to spend quality time with Amelia and Madison at home.

The Daily Mail acquired an exclusive clip last April where Olly shared: ‘However, I’ve spent my days at home this past week.’

‘I’ve done the nappies, I’ve done the late nights and I can’t wait to stay on tour.

Just kidding! Honestly, she is simply amazing. I must admit, I never imagined becoming a father, so it still feels quite unreal to me.

Olly excitedly declared, pointing towards himself, ‘It’s functioning perfectly! I couldn’t be more thrilled and proud. To be part of this tour has been the cherry on top, making this a truly exceptional moment in my life.’

The couple announced a month ago that they were eagerly anticipating growing their family. However, they didn’t shy away from discussing the difficulties of parenthood, acknowledging that it isn’t always filled with joy and perfect moments as portrayed on social media.

To OK!, Amelia admitted that being a mom sometimes feels isolating and shared her challenges following the birth of Madison.

Originally, we intended for a natural delivery, but due to some complications, Madi wasn’t positioned properly. Specifically, she was lying sideways rather than head-first, leaving us no other choice than performing an emergency C-section.

The bodybuilder expressed her surprise at how challenging the recovery process had been, admitting that she struggled without being able to engage in her gym routine as frequently as before.

Amelia expressed that the recuperation process was extremely challenging and she wished others had been more forthcoming about its intensity. She suspects it’s due to her active lifestyle, but she hadn’t anticipated just how limited she’d be post-recovery.

She added that she’s trying harder to be upfront about the challenges of being a parent since Olly has been absent.

Olly emphasized the importance of honesty, stating, “There’s no use in constantly portraying a perfect life on social media with overly positive posts like ‘Everything is fantastic.’ I pride myself on being truthful. Being parents is indeed incredible, but it’s also incredibly challenging.

They revealed their pregnancy news exactly a year after they shared that their daughter was born on April 17 the previous year.
