Olivier Awards 2025: The Big Winners

At the 2025 Olivier Awards, Kara Tointon gracefully displayed an unconventional elegance in a mini dress adorned with black orchids.

Many well-known personalities graced the red carpet at the glamorous award event that took place at the Royal Albert Hall on a Sunday evening.

Among those was EastEnders star Kara, 41, who arrived sporting a quirky flower-inspired ensemble.

Her strapless, sleek black satin mini dress featured delicate orchid embellishments, and she accessorized it elegantly with see-through stockings.

Kara accessorized her outfit with black stilettos, a petite leather handbag, and styled her short blonde hair in a casual half-up, half-down style to highlight her gold hoop earrings.

Or more colloquially:
Kara finished off her ensemble with a pair of black stilettos, a small leather bag, and rocked her short golden tresses in a messy half-up-half-down ‘do, flaunting her gold hoop earrings.

This year’s Olivier Awards are especially glamorous, as several veteran actors from Hollywood have been nominated.

The 2025 Olivier Awards, taking place at the Royal Albert Hall on April 6, will honor the finest productions from London’s West End, with Beverley Knight and Billy Porter as hosts.

The level of competition is exceptionally high, as American performers Adrien Brody, John Lithgow, and Billy Crudup will face off with British actors Paapa Essiedu and Mark Strong in the Best Actor category.

In the Best Actress categories, there are just as many big-name stars. Imelda Staunton got recognized for her remarkable performance in the musical Hello, Dolly! Meanwhile, Lesley Manville has earned a nomination for her intense portrayal in the thriller adaptation of Oedipus, where she shared the screen with Strong last year.

Simultaneously, Indira Varma, known for her roles in Mission: Impossible, was nominated for Best Actress for her lead part in a contemporary rendition of a Greek tragedy that premiered in January. Unfortunately, her co-star Rami Malek missed out on a nomination.

remarkably, Actress Romola Garai, known for her role in Atonement, has received nominations in the same acting category for two different plays: Giant and The Years.

Among the other British celebrities nominated for stage awards are Layton Williams from “Strictly,” comedian Meera Syal, and three-time Olivier Award winner Sharon D. Clarke. (In this version, I’ve simplified the sentence structure to make it more conversational.)

Currently, Joseph Stein’s musical Fiddler On The Roof is receiving the highest number of recognitions, boasting a total of 13 nominations.

New productions Giant and The Years have tied for most nominated play with five nods each.

Manville and Strong are each up for prestigious awards for their portrayals as the titular characters in a modern adaptation of the tragic tale of King Oedipus of Thebes, a man fated to unknowingly kill his father and marry his mother.

In the play “Giant,” Lithgow’s performance as Roald Dahl was acknowledged, as this production presented the author in a court-like setting due to his controversial perspectives.

The drama explores the consequences arising from controversial anti-Semitic remarks he made in a 1983 critique of a book titled “God Cried,” written by Tony Clifton and Catherine Leroy, which centered around the bombing of Lebanon that happened the year prior.

Currently, Brody is being considered for his performance in The Fear of 13, a production that was staged at the Donmar Warehouse last year. It’s adapted from Nick Yarrow’s memoir detailing his experience of spending 22 years on death row in America.

On stage, hosts Bev and Bill will be accompanied by an impressive group of presenters, each responsible for different awards.

Stars handing out awards are Cate Blanchett, Naomi Campbell, Elizabeth Debicki, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Martin Freeman, and Ewan McGregor.

As I eagerly prepare for the upcoming show, let me express my heartfelt feelings: There’s nothing more precious than the overwhelming joy I get from honoring remarkable individuals and showcasing exceptional talents.

Billy, her fellow host and a renowned Cabaret performer, chimed in, saying: “We’re honoring theater, we’re honoring this unique community like no other.

On Sunday evening at 10.15 PM, ITV1 and STV will broadcast a summary program showcasing some of the award-winning moments and performances. Afterwards, it will be accessible on ITVX.

Among the performances planned for the audience is a rendition from Les Misérables, marking the show’s 40th anniversary celebration.

TikTok has been chosen once again to cover the Green Carpet events, serving as the primary platform for mobile entertainment.
