As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for emerging talent and a deep appreciation for versatility in the arts, I find myself truly inspired by the recent red-carpet event celebrating Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut, Blink Twice. The star-studded premiere in Los Angeles was a testament to the power of friendship, creative collaboration, and the ever-evolving roles that individuals can play within the industry.
The hype for Zoe Kravitz’s first directorial venture, Blink Twice, is growing as we approach its scheduled theater premiere on August 23.
On Thursday evening, the stars shone brightly during the movie premiere in Los Angeles, with Olivia Wilde, both an actress and director, among them.
Forty-year-old former House star donned a stylish yet daring ensemble on the red carpet, standing alongside her dear friend Kravitz with unwavering support.
Wilde rocked a low-cut black spaghetti strap maxi dress that showed off her gym-honed physique.
She adorned her long dress with a beautiful stone pendant necklace and a golden bracelet for the arms, both adding a touch of elegance.
Wilde strolled around the premiere venue in a pair of black platform boots.
Her light brown locks were styled straight with a center part.
As for makeup, the natural beauty opted for smudged black eyeliner and a light nude-toned lip.
At the red carpet event, Wilde interacted with artist Santigold, who gained significant praise for her self-titled debut album that beautifully blended genres such as dub, new wave, and hip-hop.
Starting in 2008, when she first emerged as a successful musician, the woman (now aged 47) has since released an additional three studio albums. Each one has received both critical acclaim and substantial commercial success.
At the grand opening on Thursday, Santigold (originally named Santi White), exuded casual elegance in an oversized shirt and velvet pants with pops of red.
To complete her ensemble, she added a camouflage-patterned baseball cap atop a long, black headdress adorned with shimmering silver sequins.
Blink Twice stars Kravitz’s fiancé Channing Tatum as billionaire tech mogul Slater King, who charms cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie).
Following their getaway to the tycoon’s exclusive island with companions, Frida’s associate inexplicably goes missing, leaving Frida to unravel the enigma surrounding this mysterious disappearance.
In addition to Ackie, Tatum, Christian Slater, Simon Rex (who also goes by Dirt Nasty), Adria Arjona, Kyle MacLachlan, Haley Joel Osment, Geena Davis, and Alia Shawkat, several of these stars graced the promotional event.
Both director Zoe and Channing were on hand for Thursday premiere in LA.
They started going out together in August 2021, following the finalization of Kravtiz’s divorce from his former partner, Karl Glusman.
I had the pleasure of attending the premiere alongside a stellar lineup of individuals, including Alicia Keys, Nicole Dean, Laura Dern, Reese Witherspoon, Deacon Reese Phillippe, Ricky Ullman, Reid Carolin, Stacy Perskie, Alejandro Reza, Twin Shadow, Daniel Moon, Liz Caribel, Peter Kiernan, Trew Mullen, and Tiffany Persons. What an incredible gathering of talent and style!
Kravitz not only directed her debut feature film for her career, but she also collaborated on the script with E.T. Feigenbaum, much like her friend Wide has been doing recently.
Before taking up the director’s role, Wilde had built a successful acting career since 2004, earning recognition for several notable performances on screen.
In her initial encounter with the job, she experienced it through the short film “Free Hugs” (2011). However, this brief introduction paved the way for her first directorial role in a full-length feature, namely “Booksmart” (2019), a humorous coming-of-age story featuring Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein as two high school seniors who decide to break free from rules on their final day of classes and party.
In addition to Jessica Williams, Lisa Kudrow, Will Forte, and Jason Sudeikis (who is the former partner of Wilde and dad to her kids), were also part of the show’s cast.
The film “Booksmart” was praised by critics and earned $25 million globally, while its production cost was only $6 million.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of directing another short film titled “Wake Up” (2020), and stepping behind the camera once more for my second feature film, “Don’t Worry Darling.” This time, I was joined by a stellar cast that included Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, Chris Pine, in 2022.
On a production budget ranging from 20 to 35 million dollars, accompanied by a tumultuous media promotion period, the drama-filled psychological thriller movie penned by Katie Silberman managed to rake in a total of 87.6 million dollars at the box office.
Blink Twice is scheduled to be released in the United States by Amazon MGM Studios on August 23.
