Olivia Rodrigo stuns in a semi-sheer floral gown as she makes her red carpet debut with boyfriend Louis Partridge at the Venice Film Festival premiere of Disclaimer
As a seasoned journalist and observer of human nature, I find Catherine Ravenscroft’s character intriguing. Having spent my fair share of years navigating the tumultuous waters of family dynamics, I can relate to her fractured relationship with her son. It seems that no matter how much we try to understand our kin, there always remains a hidden depth they keep tucked away like a secret treasure.
At the Venice Film Festival‘s premiere of Disclaimer, I had the privilege of walking the red carpet alongside my companion, Louis Partridge, and it was quite an unforgettable moment for me, Olivia Rodrigo, as we turned heads with our presence.
21-year-old vocalist, previously connected with an actor in October 2023, has maintained a low profile regarding their relationship. However, they were seen hand-in-hand at the festival recently, giving a glimpse into their romance for the first time.
The bloodsucker tune-maker was nothing less than extraordinary, exuding elegance as she graced the event in a semi-transparent black floral dress adorned with flowers.
The stylish ensemble boasted spaghetti shoulder straps, a scoop neckline, and a floral detail at the bust.
Olivia increased her height with a pair of strappy high-heels, carrying her necessities in a sleek black handbag adorned with silver diamond fastenings.
To finish off her glamorous red carpet style, she added a pair of cat-eyed sunglasses and sported a striking red lipstick upon her arrival at the festival.
In the meantime, Louis, the 21-year-old who plays the character Jonathan in the gripping thriller series, was looking sharp in a sleek black, single-breasted jacket.
He teamed the blazer with a crisp white shirt and sported a pair of tailored trousers as he put his arm around Olivia’s waist for snaps.
After confirming their budding romance in December with a passionate kiss in New York City, they now exhibit an attractive demeanor together.
As they were filling up their car with gasoline, the sweethearts found it hard to resist their affection; Louis teasingly touched her waist while Olivia embraced him tightly around the neck.
With a radiant smile, the three-time Grammy Award recipient appeared deeply enamored as they shared a heartfelt kiss. Subsequently, they spent the remainder of the afternoon wandering through New York City, capturing memories in the form of selfies.
In May, Louis became a part of the ensemble for an upcoming psychological thriller series, joining acting greats like Cate Blanchett, Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Hoyeon on the project.
According to the novel titled “Disclaimer” penned by Renee Knight, the movie adaptation will feature Cate in the role of Catherine Ravenscroft, a distinguished and well-regarded television documentary journalist who has made a name for herself by exposing hidden wrongdoings within esteemed institutions.
Upon discovering a captivating book penned by a widower (Kevin) on my nightstand, I find myself struck with dismay as I recognize myself as a central figure in a narrative I thought had been left behind in my past, which I had fervently hoped to leave untouched.
Louis takes on the character of Jonathan Brigstocke, a 19-year-old spending his gap year exploring Italy, where he succumbs to his inner yearnings, leading to unforeseen outcomes.
The show explores themes such as public humiliation, familial dynamics, hidden truths, and the enjoyment of the masses in accusing others.
In a different phrasing, we find Catherine Ravenscroft paired with a loving spouse portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen, while her onscreen son, skillfully acted by Kodi Smit-McPhee, gives off an impression of dislike towards her.
Cate mentioned that she aimed to utilize the ‘power of judgment’ when depicting the journalist. She highlighted this point by stating, “As soon as you encounter her, even without knowing anything about her, you listen to what others say about her.”
In a sense, it proved difficult to disclose too many details; it felt as though she was an empty vessel that other characters and viewers filled with their own interpretations.
‘The people who transposed their judgement onto the character knew nothing about her at all.’
‘She is a woman who has a very fractured relationship with her son and consequently, her husband doesn’t understand her view. In families, people can live their lives quite independently. You often think you understand your family members but do not.’
‘When encountering Catherine, she carries a flawless image of always making ethical choices and standing on the correct side of issues. However, hidden beneath this facade lie some secrets and untruths that she keeps to herself.’
The Apple TV+ series will be available to watch on the streaming giant from October 11.
