Olivia Rodrigo calls ICE actions ‘unconscionable’ and declares: ‘I stand with Minnesota’

Olivia Rodrigo publicly spoke out on Sunday to criticize the harmful actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In addition to the recent deaths of two Americans in Minneapolis, six people in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody have died this year, following 32 deaths in ICE custody last year.

The 22-year-old singer, with over 61 million followers on social media, shared a message on Instagram saying she strongly condemns the actions of ICE, but believes people have the power to make a difference. She expressed her support for Minnesota.

Rodrigo shared a post from political commentator Ben Sheehan encouraging people to call their senators and ask them to block the upcoming Homeland Security funding bill unless changes are made. He also shared Sheehan’s strong criticism of ICE, which labeled the agency as ‘murderous’.

Video footage from Saturday shows 37-year-old Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse, being shot ten times while being wrestled to the ground. An ICE agent had previously secured Pretti’s legally owned firearm.

On Sunday, CNN reported that a federal judge, Eric Tostrud, issued an order preventing federal agencies from destroying or changing any evidence connected to the case.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, 37-year-old Renee Good, a mother of three, was shot in the head by an ICE agent on January 7th, and despite still having a pulse, she was not given immediate medical attention by a doctor at the scene.

Rodrigo was born in California, but her father’s family originally came from the Philippines.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I always love celebrating milestones, and January 8th was a special one! It marked the fifth anniversary of Olivia Rodrigo’s incredible debut album, ‘Sour’. It’s amazing to see how much impact that album has had – a true testament to her talent, and a moment worth acknowledging for any music lover.

Olivia Rodrigo announced that several artists she admires will be releasing their own versions of songs from her album, SOUR.

We’re kicking things off with a fantastic new take on “Driver’s License” by the amazing David Byrne, who I’ve always admired. His version of the song was so moving, it actually brought tears to my eyes.

You can listen to the song right away, or you can pre-order a seven-inch vinyl record featuring his cover and our take on “Burning Down the House” from Governor’s Ball. I’m really excited about it – check it out!

Just recently, it’s been half a year since Olivia Rodrigo finished her incredibly successful Guts World Tour, which included 102 shows and earned $209.1 million.

Rodrigo’s latest song is a cover of “The Book of Love” by The Magnetic Fields, originally released in 1999. It’s the final song on “Help(2)”, a 23-track charity album coming out on March 6th.

Arctic Monkeys, Black Country, New Road, Cameron Winter, and Pulp are also contributing to the album, with all profits going to the charity War Child.

‘It’s a really beautiful cover,’ says War Child head of music Rich Clarke told the BBC last Friday.

This album is a real emotional ride, exploring difficult topics like conflict. But it ends on a hopeful note with a beautiful song about the power of love, leaving a lasting impression.

Olivia Rodrigo has been linked to several people, including actors Louis Partridge and Joshua Bassett, DJ Zack Bia, producer Adam Faze, and her former co-star Ethan Wacker.
