Olivia Rodrigo, Addison Rae, Jenna Ortega and Conan Grey speak out against anti-ICE protests and more

The day following nationwide demonstrations against ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), several prominent musicians have voiced their opinions.

The demonstrations served as a response to President Donald Trump’s implementation of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for large-scale deportations in Los Angeles, as well as his birthday military-themed parade in Washington D.C. on Saturday.

Notable figures such as Jimmy Kimmel, Mark Ruffalo, and others graced the protests.

Notably, figures like Olivia Rodrigo, Addison Rae, Jenna Ortega, and Conan Grey took part in the protest through sharing their thoughts on their respective Instagram stories.

Rodrigo, a 22-year-old resident born and raised in Los Angeles, expressed strong feelings in an Instagram post, beginning with, ‘I’ve spent all my life here in L.A. and I’m deeply troubled by the violent deportations of my neighbors under the current government.’

Immigrants are essential to the existence of LA; it’s disrespectful, heartless, and unjust not to show them empathy, respect, and fair treatment,” she concluded.

She expressed solidarity with the vibrant, multicultural community of Los Angeles, as well as with immigrants nationwide, she continued.

In my recent Instagram post over the weekend, I reaffirmed my commitment: “I advocate for the rights to express ourselves freely through speech and peaceful demonstrations.

In a recent Instagram story post, Rae expressed her deep frustration and concern about the ongoing events across our nation, stating that this country wouldn’t be here without the contributions of immigrants.

She finished by stating that every person should have the chance to live in a place where they feel secure, gently cared for, and welcomed.

Ortega expressed, “The entire world seems to be weeping. Just as you’ve worked hard to build your daily life and love in Los Angeles, those very same connections are being uprooted.

She stated, “Innocent people in Iran find themselves amidst conflict… The cries of Palestinians continue to be overlooked by daily news outlets.

She expressed that her thoughts are burdened, and her feelings mirror this weight. It’s understandable to experience confusion and a sense of helplessness right now… However, it’s crucial not to lose focus, she emphasized.

She wondered, how can we focus on anything else when human liberties, stretching across oceans, are being brutally infringed upon?

As a committed advocate, I urge everyone to listen attentively to each other and show affection, yet don’t shy away from feeling anger when necessary. Strive for self-improvement as much as you can. It’s a misuse of privilege to claim indifference or ignorance, when issues arise that demand our attention.

Grey affirmed that immigrants form the core strength of America. They’re the bedrock on which our entire nation has been built, deserving protection, respect, and the freedom to express their opinions through peaceful protests.

He stated that Trump’s large-scale deportations are not just un-American, but they also go against the principles of our Constitution.

In the following slide, Grey emphasized the significance of understanding our own rights as well as those of our fellow immigrants and local community members.

In addition, he provided a link to the National Immigration Law Center (NILC), ending his post with, ‘I support an America made beautiful by its diversity, and so should you.’
