Olivia Newton-John’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi refused permission to record her mother’s famous single

Olivia Newton-John's daughter Chloe Lattanzi refused permission to record her mother's famous single

As a dedicated fan who has grown up with the magical tunes and captivating spirit of Olivia Newton-John, I find it utterly disheartening to learn that her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, was denied the opportunity to record one of her mother’s most iconic singles, Physical. It’s akin to being barred from dipping my toes into the pristine waters of a tropical paradise I’ve only dreamed about!

Chloe Lattanzi, daughter of the late Australian pop sensation Olivia Newton-John, recently disclosed that her request to record her mother’s biggest hit song was denied.

On Wednesday, Chloe was a guest on The Project to discuss Olivia’s Walk For Wellness event. During the interview, she mentioned her recently released debut single, “Phoenix,” which came out on September 26 – coincidentally, Olivia’s birthday as well.

Following the topic about the ’80s theme for the forthcoming Walk For Wellness, panelist Sarah Harris inquired whether Chloe was considering the release of a remake of her mother’s most popular hit, “Physical”.

‘That’s a story,’ Chloe said.

‘I did, and one writer gave absolute permission, the other one did not.’

Host Waleed Ali chimed in, demanding to know more about the writer who nixed Chloe’s cover.

Waleed asked, “Who is the second person involved and where can we find them?” Then Myf Warhurst proposed a letter-writing strategy to overturn the decision.

Without a doubt, Olivia Newton-John’s iconic song “Physical” topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in November 1981 and stayed there for an impressive 10 weeks – a record unmatched by any other single during the 1980s.

The song climbed to the top spot in seven nations such as Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, and it received platinum certification in the U.S. and Australia.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I found it fascinating to witness the unstoppable triumph of the song, despite facing censorship and bans from certain radio stations due to its subtly explicit themes.

In another part of the conversation, it was disclosed that Olivia continues to play an important role in Chloe’s life even two years following her passing.

She mentioned that whenever she asks for assistance or direction, she tends to receive it either directly from someone or indirectly through a dream.

‘We talk to each other.’

Later on, she pointed out a green gemstone she wore around her neck, suggesting that its appearance mirrored the essence of her departed loved one.

She mentioned that she had been conversing with a delightful colleague behind the scenes, examining photos together, and found the person’s essence to be like this particular stone she was displaying for the camera.

‘That world is very real,’ Chloe added. ‘She’s here right now.’

Chloe was Olivia’s only child with ex-husband Matt Lattanzi.

On August 8, 2022, Olivia passed away tranquilly in her Southern California residence, with her loved ones – family and friends – by her side.

After a valiant, highly visible struggle with cancer spanning several decades, her passing occurred following the third diagnosis in 1992, the second in 2013, and a third and final one in 2017.

After her passing, there was an overwhelming display of public sorrow. Later, Victorian Premier Dan Andrews proposed a state funeral for her family, which they graciously accepted.

Her husband John Easterling revealed the Grease star’s final wish before her death.

Instead of sending flowers for Olivia, her family asked that people make donations to her charity, the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, as a tribute to her memory.
