As a breast cancer survivor who has walked the same path as Olivia Munn, I am moved and inspired by her courage and vulnerability. Her decision to show off her mastectomy scars for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS brand campaign is a testament to her strength and resilience.
In a powerful new advertising campaign for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS, Olivia Munn proudly displayed her mastectomy scars.
Last year, after being diagnosed with breast cancer, Munn chose not to wear a top while she posed, showcasing a scar on her left breast that resulted from a double mastectomy procedure.
44-year-old star shared her health struggle in a video for the campaign, saying: ‘A particular phrase was told to me, which resonated deeply and moved me. Regarding breast cancer, you’ve joined the most unfortunate group, but with the most extraordinary individuals.’
She shares, “I’m Olivia Munn, and I’ve overcome breast cancer.” Reflecting on her scars, differences in her breast appearance, or altered clothing fits, she expresses an abundance of gratitude instead.
‘The way my body looks is just a representation of how hard I’ve fought.’
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the campaign unfolded with Olivia showcasing various styles from SKIMS, such as a tanned bra and pants, along with a black bra featuring a diagonal strap.
Olivia posted photos from the recent SKIMS bra campaign on her own advertisement, with the caption: ‘KINTSUGI – Golden Repair.’ During the shooting of this latest campaign, she chose to no longer feel insecure about her mastectomy scars.
As a passionate connoisseur, every battle scar etched upon my physique serves as a testament to my indomitable spirit. I ardently desire that fellow women struggling with their own marks of resilience find solace and solidarity in these images, feeling the love and admiration emanating from me.

In a recent chat with Today, I found myself opening up about my journey and the transformation of our campaign. At first, it wasn’t intended to focus on my scars, but as I learned to accept and appreciate them, they became an integral part of the narrative.
She shared that when Skims asked her to participate in their campaign, the focus was solely on promoting their shapewear and new leggings, with no emphasis on her scar whatsoever.
However, during the campaign shoot, Olivia found it difficult to hide her scars once she switched to an attire that made them more noticeable.
She mentioned, “We’re right in the middle of filming, and I switched to an outfit that revealed more of my scars. So, the makeup artist was working on them. When we got to the double mastectomy scars, they were quite challenging to camouflage.
Reflecting on that moment, I gazed into the mirror and realized, “No more self-doubt about these scars of mine.” Empowered by this thought, I approached the Skims team and posed a question, “What do you all think about displaying my scars in our upcoming campaign?
Not only were they extraordinary, considerate, and delightful, but after discussing the matter, we mutually agreed to take action on it.
