Olivia Munn holds baby daughter Méi June Mulaney in sweet snap marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month
As someone who has followed Olivia Munn’s journey through thick and thin, I must say her resilience and strength are truly inspiring. Last year, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, it was a shock to us all. But seeing how she battled the disease head-on, undergoing multiple surgeries and treatments, only to emerge victorious and stronger, is nothing short of remarkable.
She’s been open with fans about her health battle.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I couldn’t help but share a heartwarming photo of my little bundle of joy, Méi June Mulaney, to mark the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this past Wednesday. The image showcases a special moment in our lives, and I felt it was important to spread awareness during this crucial time.
41-year-old Munn, who received a breast cancer diagnosis last year and brought her second child into the world through a surrogate in September, shared her health journey, expressing wonderment at becoming a mother of two.
The adorable snap saw the beaming actress hold her daughter as she sat cross-legged on a couch.
12 months ago, she was recuperating from her fourth operation; now, she’s spending time with her little daughter, as expressed in her post’s caption.
This October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last year, I was diagnosed with dual Luminal B breast cancer. Numerous individuals played crucial roles in helping me survive, but it was my OB-GYN, Dr. Thais Aliabadi, who guided me towards a path of survival. She employed the Tyrer-Cuzick Risk Assessment Test to gauge my likelihood of developing breast cancer. A high score from this test directed me towards numerous tests that eventually led to my cancer diagnosis.
‘You can easily and quickly complete this free, online test in just a few minutes. To access it, you can simply search for “Tyrer-Cuzick Test” on Google or visit Dr. Aliabadi’s website SheMD.org (@shemdpodcst). Additionally, based on your risk percentage, you will receive recommendations for follow-up actions.’
‘To everyone who is battling or has battled cancer, in whatever form, I send you all my love.’
Olivia and her spouse, John Mulaney, have just added a new member to their family – their second child, Mei, who was born through a surrogate. The couple is also proud parents to their first-born, Malcolm.
In March of this year, it was disclosed that the actress had been diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023. Since then, she has undergone several surgeries, including a double mastectomy and hysterectomy, as part of her treatment, which has led to medically induced menopause.
Previously, I shared that I’d taken steps to preserve my fertility by freezing my eggs and going through an egg retrieval process, all with dreams of growing our family with John.
Last month Olivia and John surprised fans with news they had welcomed a second child via surrogate.
Olivia posted that Mei June Mulaney was born on September 14, 2024, which is the Year of the Dragon.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it as follows: “Experiencing a myriad of deep feelings, I couldn’t physically nurture my daughter. Yet, when I met our gestational surrogate, there was an immediate connection, mother to mother. Her compassion and understanding were truly angelic. Words fall short in expressing my immense gratitude for her 9-month commitment to safeguarding our baby and fulfilling our dreams.
I’m incredibly proud that my tiny companion, my miniature dragon, embarked on the voyage to join us. It’s left me feeling overwhelmed. The word ‘Méi,’ which is pronounced ‘may,’ signifies plum in Chinese.
