Olivia Colman’s new Danish-inspired psychological thriller gets major cast update

The upcoming psychological thriller series starring Olivia Colman has just received an important cast update as another Academy Award winner is set to join the production.

Cry Wolf revolves around a dedicated social worker and mother, who find themselves in a challenging predicament as they investigate an alleged case of child abuse.

It’s been announced that Brie Larson, known for her roles in Marvel productions, will play the part of the mother, while Colman will portray the social worker.

In the FX series, the pair find themselves in a critical situation when the teenager daughter of one woman accuses her mother of abuse. This ordeal pushes both women to the brink as they struggle to cope with an extremely challenging predicament.

The series titled “Cry Wolf” is loosely based on the Danish television show “Ulven Kommer.” Notably, Sarah Treem from “The Affair,” will be serving as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer for this new project. Additionally, Colman and Larson have also signed up to take on executive producer roles.

Colman has a packed schedule ahead, as he’s due to star in the upcoming film “The Roses” alongside actors such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Andy Samberg, Jamie Demetriou, Ncuti Gatwa, Allison Janney, Kate McKinnon, Zoë Chao, and Sunita Mani.

The movie is a reimagining of “The War of the Roses,” telling the story of an ideal couple whose rivalry and bitterness are sparked anew when the man’s career declines while the woman’s flourishes.

As a passionate admirer, I can’t help but share the exciting news that the talented Colman will grace our screens once more! This time, she’ll be starring in an upcoming adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” on Netflix, taking on the role of Mrs. Bennet. The remarkable Emma Corrin will portray Elizabeth Bennet, making this a duo to watch out for!

This year, earlier on, Larson graced the West End stage for the first time as she starred in the revival of “Elektra,” a modern take on the Greek tragedy by Sophocles.

Cry Wolf will air on FX.
