Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch’s comedy remake finally confirms release date
Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch’s new movie The Roses has finally landed a release date.
Searchlight Pictures has declared that the forthcoming movie, a modern take on the 1989 dark comedy The War of the Roses, originally based on Warren Adler’s 1981 novel, will debut in American theaters on August 29th. As for the UK release date, it’s yet to be confirmed, but we can expect it to be around the same timeframe.
In a charming portrayal, the actors Colman and Cumberbatch take on the roles of the seemingly flawless duo, Ivy and Theo. They seem to live a blissful existence filled with thriving professions, a harmonious union, and cherished offspring.

Meanwhile, it was announced that Colman’s latest film featuring John Lithgow made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, with plans for a theater release towards the end of this year.
Under the title “Jimpa“, this queer drama introduces Colman as Hannah, a character who accompanies her non-binary teenager Frances (Aud Mason-Hyde) on a visit to Amsterdam to see their granddad, Jim (Lithgow), affectionately referred to as “Jimpa”. This elderly man, immersed in Amsterdam’s lively LGBTQ+ scene, is portrayed as a flamboyant, hedonistic patriarch.
As Hannah reconciles with her previously distant father, dealing with her mixed feelings towards him, Frances uncovers both the joys and risks associated with urban queer culture.
Currently, Benedict Cumberbatch has secured a part in the upcoming crime thriller “Blood on Snow”. Originally, Tom Hardy was cast for the role but had to back out because of scheduling issues.
According to Jo Nesbø’s novel, the story unfolds around a character named Olav, a professional assassin who takes on an assignment from his crime boss to eliminate the boss’s unfaithful spouse.
However, things take a turn when Olav falls in love with the wife and doesn’t carry out the hit.
The Roses will arrive in US cinemas on August 29. A UK release date is TBC.
