Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch’s all-star comedy remake confirms UK release date

As a big fan here, I’m thrilled to share that the much-anticipated remake of the classic divorce dark comedy, “The War of the Roses,” starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, has finally set its release date in the UK!

As a devoted admirer, let me share my thoughts on the captivating film titled “The Roses.” This tale revolves around myself and my partner, Ivy (Colman), and Theo (Cumberbatch). We appear to be living the dream: thriving careers, cherished children, and a marriage that seems impenetrable. However, as the story unfolds, we delve into the complexities and challenges that even the most perfect facade can hide.

As Theo’s career experiences an unforeseen decline, while Ivy thrives professionally, their long-suppressed feelings of resentment reach a boiling point.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited to share that the movie I’ve been eagerly waiting for is confirmed to premiere in UK cinemas on September 1. Funny thing, it falls on a Monday, but there’s a chance it might move to the weekend. This announcement comes after the previously announced US release date of August 29.

The forthcoming film, a modern adaptation of the 1989 hit “The War of the Roses“, initially penned by Warren Adler in 1981, promises an impressive ensemble of renowned actors.

In addition to Colman and Cumberbatch in the leading parts, the cast is completed by Ncuti Gatwa from “Doctor Who”, Andy Samberg known for his role in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, Jamie Demetriou starring in “Stath Lets Flats”, along with Allison Janney, Kate McKinnon, Zoë Chao, and Belinda Bromilow.

The film titled “The Roses” is helmed by director Jay Roach, with the screenplay written by Tony McNamara – the same writer behind the critically-acclaimed film “The Favourite,” starring Colman.

In the upcoming movie, both Colman and Cumberbatch will not only act but also produce the film under their own production companies: South of the Rivers (Colman’s) and SunnyMarch (Cumberbatch’s).

For quite some time now, I’ve been excitedly working alongside my buddies at SunnyMarch, and it’s been a heart-pounding journey to witness this project bloom under Jay’s dedicated and insightful leadership. When the movie was officially announced last year, Colman and Ed Sinclair shared their enthusiasm, describing them as a perfect pair for cinematic comedy.

The Roses hits US theaters on August 29, while UK audiences can look forward to it on September 1.
