Olivia Benson isn’t working a case tonight (When is Law & Order: SVU back?)
As a long-time fan of Law & Order: SVU, I must admit that this Thanksgiving feels a bit hollow without my weekly dose of crime and justice. But alas, it seems even the mighty SVU family needs a break, and who am I to argue with tradition?
On regular Thursdays, we gather with our cherished Law & Order: SVU crew, but this Thursday, November 28, we won’t be seeing a fresh episode of the series.
On days like today, which happens to be Thanksgiving, it’s not unusual to find that broadcast networks air specials and reruns instead of new episodes of scripted content. This is because doing so on this particular holiday often results in a significant decrease in linear ratings for the new episode. If you’re a fan of ‘Supernatural’, you might have already experienced this!
On Thanksgiving Night, NBC has a major broadcast planned. They’ve secured the rights for a football game, which will be an exceptional event, specifically marked as a “Sunday” Night Football edition in their schedule. Therefore, if you’re tuning into NBC, that’s what you’ll be watching instead.
Law & Order: SVU won’t be back in 2024
Unfortunately, fans of Law & Order: SVU may have to wait longer for new episodes as there are no plans for season 26 in 2024. Contrary to speculation, the show hasn’t been canceled but is currently on its winter hiatus. The Nov. 21 episode served as the fall finale, making it a significant one indeed! There’s much to discuss after that climactic event, and it leaves a considerable impact on Carisi’s storyline moving forward.
We’ll have to observe the effect it will make, as the next episode won’t air until 2025.
NBC has announced that Law & Order: SVU will make its comeback on Thursday, January 16th at 9 PM Eastern/Pacific Time. This is the evening when all three shows airing on NBC return, promising another night filled with crime and justice!
As a dedicated fan, I must admit that the latest promotional material doesn’t offer too many insights about the show’s upcoming return featuring Benson and the squad. This brief promo merely informs us of their anticipated comeback date. To learn more about the episode’s storyline, we’ll have to exercise a bit more patience until we’re closer to the airing time.
