Olivia Atwood Slams Social Media for Public Trials After Caroline Flack’s Tragic Death

When Caroline Flack was accused of assaulting her boyfriend and subsequently arrested, ex-Love Island competitor Olivia Attwood voiced her backing via social media.

Before Ms. Flack ended her life, following the charges against her for an attack on Lewis Burton in December 2019, Ms. Attwood expressed that she loved the presenter and was thinking about her.

In my role as a lifestyle advisor, I must confess that I’ve found myself at the receiving end of unwarranted scrutiny. It seems that by supporting Ms. Flack, I became a target. I can’t help but express my dismay towards social media users who, in essence, have been conducting an unfair trial of our beloved star on platforms like Instagram and X. This behavior is unacceptable and undermines the very essence of compassion and empathy that we should all uphold online.

In an interview with Today’s You magazine, Ms Attwood, aged 33, who referred to Ms Flack as her “twin soul”, shares her thoughts: “A psychiatrist once mentioned that during the Middle Ages, villagers found enjoyment in watching public executions in the town square.

‘Civilisation has progressed, but now we do it differently. We love putting people on trial.

In simpler terms, we might say that while there were other factors at play, the harshness she encountered online was one element contributing to her tragic end.’

After the reported incident, I openly expressed my solidarity with Caroline, a stance that was not widely taken within our profession, and faced backlash due to it.

Initially, her actions were incredibly cruel. Following her doing something abhorrent to her partner, she ended her life. Subsequently, you noticed the comments being erased online.

Ms Attwood befriended Love Island host Ms Flack when she took part in the reality show in 2017.

During times when she faced online backlash while in the villa, Ms. Flack received support from [someone]. Tragically, the former X Factor host ended her life on February 15, 2020, just before she was due to stand trial for an alleged assault against Mr. Burton. [Someone] supported her during this difficult period.

During an interview, Ms. Attwood criticized fellow Love Island alum, Maura Higgins, following footage of Maura kissing her I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! co-star and McFly musician Danny Jones at a Brit Awards after-party last month.
