Olivia Attwood emotionally admits she feels ‘defeated’ after being struck down with strep throat and flu

Olivia Attwood has shared details about a recent health issue that caused her to unexpectedly withdraw from an appearance on the show Loose Women just before it began.

Olivia, a former contestant on Love Island, was originally scheduled to appear on a recent show alongside Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, and Jane Moore. However, when the show began, she wasn’t present.

After posting a picture of a medic attending to her with medical equipment nearby, the presenter spoke to her fans.

Olivia apologized to viewers who were looking forward to seeing her on Loose Women today, explaining that she wasn’t able to appear on the show.

‘Got to work and my body finally said no. Thank you to the team for looking after me. Back soon.’

She later shared on TikTok that she’d been sick with strep throat and the flu, explaining how unwell the illness had made her feel.

Wearing grey pajamas and relaxing on the sofa, Olivia explained she felt completely overwhelmed by the unexpected illness.

She confessed that, as the eldest daughter and first grandchild, and being a Taurus, she’s always been independent and doesn’t take advice easily. She also acknowledged a tendency to ignore her body’s signals and a strong dislike of losing or being beaten.

I’m completely worn out and stuck resting for the next 24 hours, as the doctor instructed. Honestly, it just feels like being completely lazy.

She explained that her mixed English and German heritage, combined with her ADHD, makes it really difficult for her to stay still and inactive.

Does anyone have advice on how to rest and recover? I have a really packed schedule next week and need to prioritize getting better.

To take her mind off things, Olivia asked her followers for a movie suggestion, wondering if anyone had seen ‘Frankenstein’ on Netflix and if it was any good.

I’m just wondering if it’s a sad movie? I’m really not in the mood to feel down right now. Some of the trailers I’ve seen seem quite upsetting, and honestly, I’m already feeling a bit fragile after having to cancel my appearance on Loose Women. I’d much prefer something that’s either scary or makes me laugh.

Later in the day, Olivia moved to another social media app and invited her Instagram followers to hang out with her online.

When a fan asked how she was doing, Olivia explained she’d been really unwell. She said she’d first had a chest infection, then strep throat, and now something like the flu, and couldn’t seem to get better.

Another fan wrote that she too was ill and told Olivia it didn’t suit their personality.

I completely understand what she’s saying, and it really resonated with me when she confessed that her health issues might be linked to her always being on the go. It makes so much sense – she just never seems to rest!

She mentioned she’s struggling with slowing down and plans to discuss this further in therapy.

I had a bit of a scare yesterday, nearly falling out of my chair, but thankfully I was okay. Still, it feels like a wasted day, and I’m really disappointed I let people down.

She then added that it’s ‘hell’ being her brain.

The video quickly received a lot of supportive comments, with fans sending well wishes and recommending things to watch while she recovers.

Earlier this year, Olivia was revealed as the newest celebrity to present on the popular daytime show, This Morning.

In June, Olivia announced she’d be joining Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley as a new host, taking a seat alongside them on the show’s sofa.

I’m incredibly honored! I’ve been a fan of this show since I was young, and after being on Loose Women, this feels like a really comfortable and natural fit.

Olivia became well-known after appearing on the reality show Love Island in the summer of 2017. She made it to the final with her then-boyfriend, Chris Hughes, but they split in February 2018.

Once known as a grid girl, she’s now a well-known TV personality, having appeared on popular shows like The Only Way Is Essex, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, This Morning, and Loose Women.

Olivia has hosted numerous shows, including her own, and presented series like Bad Boyfriends, Getting Filthy Rich, and The Price Of Perfection. She’s even said she eagerly took any television opportunity available, relentlessly pursuing work and proving her dedication to the industry.

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
