O’Jays singer Eddie Levert’s youngest child Ryan dies at 22, years after brothers’ deaths
As a fan who has grown up listening to the soulful melodies of The O’Jays, this news about Ryan Levert’s passing is deeply saddening. Having followed her journey on social media, I can’t help but feel a personal connection with her vibrant spirit and the love she shared with her family, especially her grandfather Eddie.
Ryan Levert, the youngest child of O’Jays lead vocalist Eddie Levert, has died. She was 22.
Micah Levert and Carley Levert, grandchildren of Eddie Levert, announced Ryan’s passing this week on Instagram. They are the offspring of Gerald Levert, Eddie’s first-born son who has passed away. “When you didn’t answer the phone, I knew something was amiss, and now I will carry that feeling forever,” Micah wrote in an Instagram tribute to his late aunt.
“I love you @missryanlevert! I wasn’t prepared for this,” he added.

This week saw the passing of comedian Conan O’Brien’s parents, Thomas and Ruth O’Brien. They were married for a remarkable 66 years, with Thomas passing away on Monday, followed by Ruth on Thursday.
Carlysia commemorated Ryan on her Instagram Story by sharing a picture of her aunt, accompanied with a purple heart and dove emoji. No additional details about Ryan’s passing were disclosed in her social media posts, such as the cause of death. Based on her Instagram profile, Ryan had been waging a struggle against lupus.
An aide for Eddie Lavert, aged 82, didn’t provide an immediate response when The Times reached out for a statement.
Almost two decades ago, following the tragic loss of my elder brother Gerald in November 2006 due to a heart attack at the age of 40, I too followed him on this journey. Sean Levert, the talented singer from The O’Jays, my younger brother, passed away in April 2008, after battling illness during his incarceration in Cleveland. He was only 39 years old.

Over the weekend, it was reported that Burt, the famous saltwater crocodile from ‘Crocodile Dundee’ alongside Paul Hogan, passed away. This 1986 comedy popularized Australian slang in the United States.
Born in March 2002, Ryan is the daughter of Eddie and his spouse Raquel. On Instagram, she frequently shared glimpses into her personal life, posting heartwarming pictures with her dad and memorable videos, such as her 21st birthday celebration in 2023. In her last Instagram post before 2024, Ryan expressed excitement for the upcoming year.
2024 Wishes! (These pictures are from a stylish photoshoot), hoping for better health, even more love, and plenty of joyous moments.
