Offspring star Kat Stewart reveals what it is really like working with Travis Fimmel as she joins the cast of his hit crime series Black Snow

As a dedicated fan of riveting crime dramas and a connoisseur of Australian talent, I can confidently say that my recent foray into the captivating world of Black Snow has been nothing short of extraordinary! Having closely followed Travis Fimmel’s career since his Vikings days, I was absolutely thrilled to hear he would be reprising his role as Detective James Cormack in this gripping series.

Working alongside the brilliant Kat Stewart, who plays Julie Cosgrove, has been an absolute dream come true! The Offspring star perfectly encapsulates her character’s intrigue and complexity, making every scene they share a delight to watch. Travis, on the other hand, is nothing short of a powerhouse in his portrayal of Cormack – a dogged detective with a mysterious past that unfolds as the series progresses.

What I particularly appreciate about Travis’s performance is his ability to make every scene feel fresh and unpredictable – you never know what he’ll do next, which keeps me on the edge of my seat! And let’s not forget his stunning turn as Lyle Orlik in Boy Swallows Universe; he truly deserves all the accolades that came his way.

But what really drew me to Black Snow was the opportunity to work with Sian Davies, a director I hold in high regard after our time together on Offspring and Mr & Mrs Murder. It’s always a pleasure to collaborate with talented individuals who share a common vision for storytelling, and I can confidently say that Sian is one of them.

Now, as we eagerly await the second season premiere on New Year’s Day, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation building within me. The trailer alone has left me intrigued by the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Zoe and Cormack’s personal journey in search of his missing brother. I have no doubt that this new six-part series will keep us all guessing until the very end!

And to lighten the mood, let me share a little joke: Why did the detective bring a map to the crime scene? Because he wanted to follow the clues, not the river! 😉

Kat Stewart shares insights into her on-set experience collaborating with Travis Fimmel during the production of the crime series, Black Snow.

The well-known Australian actress, now aged 52, is set to be part of Black Snow’s second season, portraying the character Julie Cosgrove. This follows the massive success of the show’s initial release featuring Travis.

In the second season, the series introduces an entirely fresh group of actors, but Travis reappears as tenacious Detective James Cormack, delving once more into a heartrending unsolved crime.

Kat, who played Offspring, shared her experience collaborating with Travis, referring to him as a ‘forceful’ individual while expressing admiration for his abilities, as she praised his acting skills.

She shared with Daily Mail Australia: “He’s fantastic, truly fantastic, and that was a major attraction for me. His portrayal of Detective James Cormack was captivating because it was intriguing, surprising, delicate, multi-dimensional, and deeply layered.

Regarding his impromptu work approach, she commented: “I prefer collaborating with someone who I can interactively engage with, and I enjoy scenes where I am unexpectedly caught off guard – that’s what excites me!

She excitedly expressed, “He’s incredibly gifted, and he truly merits every recognition. I also found his acting in ‘Boy Swallows Universe’ exceptional.

Apart from admiring Travis’ skills, Kat was equally eager to collaborate on Black Snow project, primarily because it would offer her an opportunity to reconnect with director Sian Davies on the film set.

‘Sian Davies was the director and I’ve worked with her a lot,’ she shared.

I collaborated with her on The Offspring and Mr. & Mrs. Murder, we’ve become friends in the process. It’s a pleasure working with her as she’s incredibly talented.

Kat openly acknowledged that she’s had exceptional luck with her team members throughout her career, mentioning that there aren’t many she wouldn’t collaborate with once more. In a friendly exchange, she expressed her desire to reconnect with her fellow cast members from Offspring.

As a seasoned lifestyle expert looking back on my journey, I spent an impressive seven years of my career immersed in the world of Offspring. Alongside a captivating telemovie, this project was a significant part of my professional growth. It was a privilege to collaborate once more with familiar faces who have since flourished on the international stage, individuals I hadn’t worked alongside for quite some time. Their success is truly inspiring.

‘But pretty much, there aren’t too many I wouldn’t work with again, I’ve just been really lucky.’

In simple terms, the second season of Stan’s unique crime drama, “Black Snow,” is set to debut on New Year’s Day. A sneak peek or preview for the series has been released, giving fans a taste of what’s to come in the show.

In the upcoming six-episode series, viewers will delve into the enigma shrouding the vanishing of a lady last spotted on her 21st birthday.

As Cormack (Fimmel) delves deeper into the old mystery, he embarks on a profound quest – tracking down his long-lost younger brother, whom he hasn’t seen since their childhood days.

In a chilling opening scene, we find character Cormack isolated within a forest, seeming to experience apparitions or glimpses of the vanished lady Zoe, portrayed by actress Jana McKinnon from the series ‘Bad Education’.

Afterward, Cormack retrieves a drifting card revealing Zoe’s disappearance from the river, hinting subtly that this location could potentially provide a clue to the enigmatic situation at hand.

The story unfolds within an imaginary coastal community in North Queensland, with filming conducted in the vicinity of the Glasshouse Mountains during the latest season.

In the year 2023, the initial run of “Black Snow” premiered on Stan, focusing on an unresolved 30-year-old murder within a community of North Queensland South Sea Islanders, which had caused quite a stir.

The “whodunit” television show, created in North Queensland, centered around the murder of teenager Isabel Baker back in 1995.

In the case of the unsolved murder, no suspect had been apprehended up until 2020. However, during that year, an unexpected discovery was made – a time capsule unveiled a crucial piece of evidence that ultimately led Cormack (Fimmel) to crack the crime.

In the initial season, Fimmel shared the screen with Brooke Satchwell, Alexander England, as well as actor-comedian Rob Carlton.
