Despite being shot earlier this month and hospitalized, Migos rapper Offset is eager to return to work.
Kiari Cephus, the artist known as Offset (“Bodies,” “Run It Up”), didn’t seem too bothered by the incident or his injury. He recently mentioned on the “Creators Inc. Podcast” that he has to stay focused and keep working hard, comparing himself to the Energizer bunny.
“Ain’t got time to be slowing down,” the 34-year-old rapper told podcast host Andrew Bachman.
On the evening of April 6th, Offset was shot near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The shooting happened after a disagreement reportedly involving rapper Lil Tjay, who is 24 years old. Offset was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood and was reported to be in stable condition.
Music
Rapper Lil Tjay was arrested in Florida for offenses that included disturbing the peace. His attorney has stated that he had no involvement in the shooting involving Offset.
I was shocked to hear that Lil Tjay – Tione Merritt is his real name – got arrested in Florida! Apparently, it was for disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license. Thankfully, he was released pretty quickly after posting bail. And his lawyer has said all those rumors about him being involved in the shooting are totally false, which is a relief to hear.
Offset posted a message on social media thanking his fans for their support. He said he’s currently concentrating on his family – including his three children with Cardi B – his personal well-being, and returning to making music, acknowledging that life is full of both triumphs and setbacks.
“Life’s a gamble and I’m still playing to win,” he added.
Offset quickly returned to performing after the shooting, even appearing on stage in a wheelchair at a University of Arkansas event, as shown in a video he shared online. He also mentioned on a podcast that he’s focusing entirely on making new music and hinted at an upcoming album.
Offset, acknowledging an unfortunate situation, stated he’s focused on continuing to work hard and doesn’t want anyone to pity him. He emphasized, “The work never stops, man. I don’t want anyone feeling sorry for me.”
Entertainment & Arts
Rapper Offset was shot Monday evening near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, but is expected to recover, according to a spokesperson for The Times.
He explained that shootings happen all the time, but he feels lucky to be alive and able to keep going, so he doesn’t see any reason to stop now.
