Official Sailor Moon Collab Apologizes After Disappointing Reveal

Fans of the popular series likely anticipated a high-quality event celebrating the franchise. However, a recent official event got off to a rocky start, and organizers have apologized for a mistake that many felt didn’t live up to the spirit of the main character, Usagi.

The new Sailor Moon Cafe in Tokyo’s Akasaka district has quickly received a lot of criticism. Fans are complaining about both the food and the service, saying it’s been a disappointment. Event organizers have officially apologized, hoping to address the issues and save the cafe’s reputation.

Sailor Moon Cafe Issues Apology After Disappointing Event Launch

The Sailor Moon Cafe, planned for Fall 2025 and geared towards fans of the Sailor Moon series, promised a fully immersive experience with themed food and decorations. While it sounded exciting even for newcomers to the anime and manga, those who visited were ultimately disappointed.

Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot of feedback from other fans about the recent event, and honestly, it’s a bit disappointing. A lot of people were saying the food just didn’t taste very good – some even described it as bland and watery! The service wasn’t great either, with long waits being a common complaint. And the merchandise? Forget about it! It wasn’t always what was advertised, and it sold out super quickly, leaving many of us who had reservations empty-handed. It feels like the whole event didn’t really live up to expectations, and a lot of people feel like the brand’s quality wasn’t really prioritized, which is a shame.

Following complaints about the food and service at the event, staff issued an apology on the official Sailor Moon X (formerly Twitter) account. The now-deleted message included a statement that read, in part:

We are truly sorry for the long waits you experienced for food and drinks, and for the issues with how smoothly things ran when you entered and were guided inside the café. We also apologize if what you received didn’t match the menu descriptions, or if items you wanted weren’t available. These problems stemmed from being unprepared for the number of guests and weaknesses in our kitchen and service. We realize our processes for speed, teamwork, and quality weren’t good enough. We’re carefully examining everything and working hard to make significant improvements so this doesn’t happen again.

The event is scheduled to continue through the end of the year, allowing the café plenty of time to make improvements to its offerings and customer service.
