In a response to remarks deemed as outdated, Sabrina Carpenter countered criticisms from Pete Waterman, a competitor of Simon Cowell, who found her portrayal as sexually suggestive to be inappropriate.

25–year–old sensation known for her Espresso tunes faced criticisms earlier this week, with allegations that her portrayal is excessively provocative and potentially harmful to the advancement of women‘s rights, as expressed in harsh remarks.

However, Sabrina has retorted against the critical remarks by pointing out that women artists have long been subjected to shame for expressing their sexuality openly.

She shared with The Sun: “My stance has consistently been straightforward: if you find it challenging to accept a woman who embraces her sexuality with confidence, then perhaps my concerts aren‘t the right fit for you.

For centuries, women artists have faced public scrutiny. It was Rihanna in the 2000s, Britney Spears in the 1990s, Madonna in the 1980s, and now it‘s my turn to face similar criticisms.

The response seems to express frustration over people criticizing or shaming without offering constructive feedback, particularly on topics such as self–care, body positivity, and heartbreak, which are common experiences for someone at the age of 25.

“It feels completely counterproductive. It‘s as if those who aim to criticize or shame me choose to remain silent when I discuss topics like self–care, body positivity, heartbreak – all things that are typical for a 25–year–old to experience. Instead of offering negative comments, it would be more beneficial if they provided support or understanding.”

In their professional career, both Pete and Mike have been associated with Sabrina and other female celebrities who have adopted a more sensual image for record sales. Many artists they collaborated with have similarly emphasized a sexually charged persona in their work.
