“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” does indeed have two scenes after the credits roll. These scenes hint at what’s next in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A recent post on the Instagram page of directors Anthony and Joe Russo (known for their work on “Doomsday”) announced the return of a beloved character and the story that initially brought their fans together. The caption hinted at a significant development, stating, “The character that changed our lives… It was always going to come back to this…”

The Russo brothers first directed a Marvel Cinematic Universe film with 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” They continued with “Captain America: Civil War” in 2016, and then concluded the epic Infinity Saga with “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) and the blockbuster “Avengers: Endgame” (2019).

In “Endgame,” Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed on the Captain America shield and leadership to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) before going back in time to spend his life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). Although Chris Evans had finished filming his role as Steve Rogers after “Endgame,” director Joe Russo hinted that Evans might not be finished with the character.

Reports initially suggested Chris Evans would be back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a future project, but it wasn’t known what his role would be. He recently appeared in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” bringing back his character Johnny Storm from the earlier “Fantastic Four” movies.
