Oasis Confirms Reunion, 15 Years After Band of Brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher Split Apart

As a music enthusiast who grew up with the raw energy and infectious tunes of Oasis, I can hardly contain my excitement about their long-awaited reunion! For years, I’ve been caught in the crossfire of the Gallagher brothers’ feud, watching from the sidelines as they traded barbs through interviews and social media. But now, it seems that the stars have finally aligned for a spectacular showdown of brotherly love… or at least, a few hours of harmonious music.

The iconic Britpop band Oasis, famous for evergreen songs such as “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” is coming together again for a tour across the British Isles next summer, signaling an end to their 15-year break and hopefully resolving the longstanding sibling rivalry between Liam and Noel Gallagher.

Next July and August, the band playing guitar music has announced that they will perform 14 shows across Wales, England, Scotland, and Ireland. This was shared by Oasis on Tuesday. Ticket sales for these concerts start at 9 a.m. this coming Saturday.

“This is it. This is happening,” the band said.

In 2009, Oasis disbanded following prolonged internal conflicts. Notably, Noel Gallagher announced his departure from the group just prior to a concert at a festival close to Paris. Prior to their split, the Gallagher brothers had a contentious relationship that extended beyond the band’s dissolution, with reports suggesting they did not communicate for years afterwards.

In a statement made back then, Noel Gallagher, the band’s guitarist and composer, expressed that he couldn’t bear to work alongside Liam for even another day.

Despite not playing together for some time, Liam and Noel Gallagher individually include Oasis tunes in their separate shows. Additionally, they’ve both made critical comments about each other in interviews.

In 2009, it was claimed by Noel Gallagher that his younger brother was suffering from a hangover, causing them to cancel a performance. However, the lead singer denied this allegation and even filed a lawsuit against him. Eventually, he chose to withdraw the legal action.

Currently, the siblings are gearing up for a reunion, as the group hints that concert-goers will feel the unique “electricity and fervor” that can only be produced when they perform live together.

The tour kicks off on the 4th and 5th of July at Principality Stadium, Cardiff, Wales. Additionally, Oasis will take the stage at Heaton Park, Manchester, England on the 11th, 12th, 19th, and 20th of July; Wembley Stadium in London on the 25th and 26th of July, as well as the 2nd and 3rd of August; Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on the 8th and 9th of August; and Croke Park in Dublin on the 16th and 17th of August.

The band alluded to past tensions in the tour announcement.

“Oasis declared, ‘The firing has ceased.’ ‘Everything has come together at the right moment.’ ‘The long anticipation ends now.’ ‘Join us, for this spectacle won’t be broadcast on TV.'”

The guns have ceased firing, the stars are all aligned, the long-awaited moment has arrived – don’t miss it! It won’t be broadcasted on TV.

In 2011, Noel Gallagher shared in an interview with the Associated Press that he departed the band following an altercation where Liam Gallagher brandished a guitar as if it were an axe. He then proceeded to spin the guitar around and, in effect, gave Noel quite a shock on the face.

In 2019, Liam Gallagher told the AP he was ready to reconcile.

He emphasized that what truly mattered was their brotherhood, as he explained. He mistakenly believes I’m only interested in reuniting the band for financial gain. However, my intention wasn’t about earning money; rather, it stemmed from a desire to have fun and explore the world with the band.

He went on to say, “I’m not sure what the issue is, but I believe he simply desired to pursue a solo path, accrue all the earnings, and surround himself with individuals he can easily dismiss or hire at his whim. That’s not an option for me.”

With the announcement, the pioneers of Britpop put an end to several days of fan curiosity. A brief video on their social media platforms Sunday evening displayed “27.08.24” and “8 a.m.” in the familiar Oasis logo font. The brothers simultaneously posted this information on their respective accounts.

Indeed, for quite some time, fans have been speculating that a reunion could be imminent. This anticipation was further fueled following the 2017 tragedy at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, which is Oasis’ hometown. Liam Gallagher’s performance at a charity event stirred such rumors, as he publicly criticized his brother’s non-attendance. However, it was reported that Noel Gallagher was unable to attend due to a prior family commitment. The organizers mentioned that Noel Gallagher had granted permission for the use of Oasis’ music and donated royalties from “Don’t Look Back In Anger” to the One Love Manchester fund managed by the British Red Cross.

Towards the end of that year, Liam Gallagher posted a Christmas message on Twitter to his brother, fueling speculation they had reconciled: “I want to wish a Merry Christmas to team Noel! It’s been a fantastic year, thank you for everything. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow – AS YOU WERE, LG x”

Before the announcement on Tuesday, Oasis had plans in place to launch a fresh collection, titled “Definitely Maybe – Deluxe 30th Anniversary Editions,” which was meant to commemorate the anniversary of their initial album release.

Speculation about a possible comeback grew stronger over the weekend as Liam Gallagher fueled the rumors by commenting on social media about unverified reports of Oasis playing London’s Wembley Stadium and Manchester’s Heaton Park. When some social media users criticized these venues and the band, Gallagher, originally from Manchester, replied with a vulgarity, hinting at his intention to be there. In another separate post on X, he playfully suggested, “I never did care for that word ‘former’.”

In response to a question about his topic, Liam Gallagher said, “I’ll let you know, mate.” He also answered several critical tweets about a potential reunion with a simple, “Be quiet.” Unlike Noel Gallagher, he only posted hints on social media instead of making any direct comments.

“The moment has arrived, it’s happening! Tickets go on sale this coming Saturday, the 31st of August at 8 AM IST or 9 AM BST. The events will take place at various locations: Cardiff Principality Stadium from 4th to 5th July, Manchester Heaton Park from the 11th to the 20th of July (spread over multiple days), London Wembley Stadium from 25th to 26th July and 2nd to 3rd August, and Edinburgh Scottish Gas Arena at a date yet to be confirmed.”
