DarkZero acquires NRG

On December 19th, Miller announced he’s stepping down from NRG and selling the organization to DarkZero, a well-established esports company. Miller stated that DarkZero will maintain the NRG brand and will continue to work with all current players and staff, including himself.

According to Miller, the vast majority of the team – including all staff and players – will be staying with the organization. Jamie Cohenca will continue to lead the gaming division. Miller expressed gratitude for the support of investors who have both the resources and vision to invest in the long term.

He also confirmed that NRG will continue operating under the same name for the time being. He plans to stay on as an advisor, helping CEO Don Kim and the rest of the leadership team.

Andy Miller on NRG’s esports journey

Miller shared that he began NRG as a pastime roughly 11 or 12 years ago, never expecting it to become his career. While the path wasn’t always easy, it culminated in a fantastic achievement: winning world championships in both VALORANT and Rocket League consecutively.

It’s been amazing working with everyone over the years, and I’m so grateful to have met so many fans. Jamie and I were recently talking about how some of our earliest fans were just kids – around 12 or 13 – when we first started out. Now, they’re grown up, in their early twenties, but they’re still supporting NRG. It’s incredible to see them grow with us, even as their tastes and interests change – our community really feels like family, and it keeps getting bigger.

To end the video, Miller thanked everyone who made NRG special over the years.
