Now Davina McCall wants a dating show... for grandparents - just months after ITV jokingly announced the idea as an April Fool

As a lifestyle expert with a rich tapestry of experiences under my belt, I must say that I find the idea of “My Mum, Your Dad” expanding to include grandparents intriguing and heartwarming. In our golden years, finding companionship can be just as important as it is in the younger generations, if not more so.

They’re planning a spin-off of the well-known reality dating show, often compared to “Love Island,” but for an older demographic. Now, they’re taking it a step further with a new edition of “My Mum, Your Dad” targeted at grandparents.

As your trusted lifestyle advisor, I am excited to share a fresh concept that has the potential to bring joy and excitement to our senior years: an adaptation of the popular series “My Mum, Your Dad” tailored specifically for the Over 60 population, or as we affectionately call it, the OAP version! I’m eagerly approaching ITV with this idea, hoping to ignite a spark of interest among their esteemed executives.

According to a source from the television network, Davina has expressed enthusiasm for the concept and believes it could be delightful. Notably, the show “My Mum, Your Dad” was her brainchild.

‘ITV are looking at it, it would be such wonderful TV. Love Island for the middle-aged seemed a bit of a push but it has been fantastic so why can’t there be one for older people?’

Following ITV’s initial April Fool’s joke about the idea, fans were so captivated by the concept that it might actually materialize into a real show. One user on the former Twitter platform expressed, ‘My 80-year-old mother is seeking love and companionship, but finding it later in life can be challenging.’

On Friday, viewers of Jenny and Danny, the first couple to share a kiss in the series, were filled with joy as they watched their romantic moment unfold.

In this latest installment, the solitary mother found herself on an emotional ride, initially weeping profusely as she voiced her anxiety about potential rejection. However, the situation took a turn for the better shortly thereafter.

Kicking off another day at the retreat with some swimming and a run, the singletons later headed out on dates and enjoyed a rodeo-themed party.

During their conversation about romantic matters, the contestants split into several smaller clusters. In this setup, Jenny found herself chatting with her friend, Paul.

Instead of admitting fear directly, she expressed her feelings by saying it might stem from the ‘anxiety over potential rejection.’

Somewhere else, Davina found the children hiding in the bunker. They had chosen Jenny for a date as they believed it might boost her self-confidence.

Additionally, they selected both Andy and Christian because they were eager to learn more about them. The trio had the liberty to decide who else would be part of their group.

As a devoted fan of the show, I find myself compelled to express my feelings: “Danny and Jenny make me tear up, they’re such a perfect pair.” Or perhaps, “The beauty of this show has me smitten, it’s truly captivating.” And lastly, “This match is perfection personified.

I’m thrilled for Danny and Jenny!

The second series of My Mum, Your Dad continues tomorrow on ITV at 9pm
