Nova radio host Tim Blackwell’s former wife Monique throws divorce party – and debuts new man – after her ex went public with a much younger woman: ‘Living life full throttle’

Monique Blackwell is joyfully moving on after her divorce from popular radio personality Tim Blackwell, finding sweet satisfaction as she’s now in a relationship with someone new by her side.

On a Tuesday in 2023, after parting ways with her husband following 14 years of marriage in December, the entrepreneur and yoga instructor announced via Instagram that she would be hosting a celebration in Gadigal Country, marking the completion of her divorce.

‘Divorceeeeee parteeee,’ she captioned the post, alongside a lightning bolt emoji. 

Monique, who shares three children with the radio star, added: ‘Living life full throttle.’

She also mentioned those who stood by her, helping her maintain a peaceful state of mind rather than a chaotic one, as an alternative to the more colorful term ‘ride or dies’, which she wished she could have embraced more.

After acknowledging that not everyone made it into the photos, she pointed out that the scarcity of pictures was a testament to a ‘great party’, meaning the event was so enjoyable that people were too busy having fun to take many photos.

Monique concluded her post saying, “At last, looking forward to seeing my friends in Perth and Melbourne – I’ll be returning to you soon with some trophies.

Among numerous pictures, Monique was noticeably radiant, donning a vibrant, full-length gown, while flashing a grin as she rejoiced with her closest companions – one of them being particularly close.

In a single snapshot, Monique could be observed snuggling up to a gentleman with silver hair, gently touching his chest while he affectionately wrapped his arm around her midriff.

It’s thought that the unidentified individual might actually be Liam Walsh, a past managing director of Facebook for both Australia and New Zealand.

Monique and Liam looked great together as they enjoyed themselves throughout the night, surrounded by her friends, marking a fresh start for her following her divorce.

To make the celebration special, Monique prepared everything she had, which included cupcakes, stickers, and champagne glasses waiting to be poured.

She even gave a speech via microphone to commemorate the night.

Information emerged about Monique having a divorce celebration, following the public revelation that her ex-husband, Tim, was dating a younger woman named Lizzie Baxter in November – a year after he first disclosed their divorce.

At the 2024 ARIA Awards, Tim, aged 43, and Lizzie, 28 (being 15 years younger than him), who is a producer for Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa, were unable to resist each other’s touch while making their red carpet debut.

Tim, the one in charge of the yearly music awards gala, publicly acknowledged his romantic involvement with Lizzie when he referred to her as his companion to Daily Mail Australia, expressing that she accompanied him.

The lovebirds are believed to have started dating after Tim’s marriage broke down.

Over on social media, there was a playful conversation between Tim and Lizzie. Tim mentioned that he’d be the host of an upcoming award show, to which Lizzie cheekily inquired if she could possibly accompany him as his date for the event.

‘Do you need a date by any chance? You’re hot,’ she wrote.

Blackwell replied, “I’m currently occupied with work. Isn’t it inappropriate?” However, he followed up by saying, “Let me ponder on it…

She teased in reply: ‘Hasn’t stopped you in the past.’

As an over-the-moon admirer, I’m thrilled to share that I work side by side with Lizzie in the very same Sydney office as Tim – a cherished member of the trio known as Fitzy and Wippa, who rule the national drive show alongside Ricki-Lee Coulter and the hilarious Joel Creasey. After becoming publicly known, the pair has been quite affectionate, frequently posting sweet photos on Instagram during their appearances at high-end events and romantic vacations.

Monique broke the news of her and Tim’s split via Instagram on December 10, 2023.

She wrote, ‘Though not every good thing comes to an end, this one did – as seen in these memories of us together.’

The former couple share children Bo, 12, Alfie, nine, and Artie, six. 

For more than a week, Tim, the joint host of Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel – Nova FM’s top-rated national drive program, has refrained from posting on Instagram following his wife’s recent announcement.

He wouldn’t address his marriage split directly until September.

In a heart-rending confession, Tim openly acknowledged that he felt unsuccessful as a parent upon the dissolution of his marriage with Monique, however, he emphasized that their tale was not yet complete.

Regarding our marriage, it’s clear that I didn’t succeed, checkmark,” he admitted. “And when it comes to being a parent, you believe you didn’t do well either.

Tim added: ‘You realise I’m still in it… Especially as co-parents. 

Our bond remains intact, but it has taken on a new form. In essence, we seem to be putting more effort into redefining our relationship rather than maintaining the one we once had.

Tim and Monique first met in 2002 after he moved to Perth to launch Nova 93.7’s drive show.

Lately, Blackwell has faced criticism from fans following the posting of several affectionate pictures with his latest companion, Lizzie.

Instead, on Instagram, he posted a collection of images capturing moments from his enchanting Thai getaway with his newly discovered sweetheart.

In a more relaxed and informal manner, it could be rephrased as: The duo didn’t hesitate to show affection publicly. A picture even captured Lizzy, wearing a bikini, seated on Tim’s lap while they enjoyed cocktails, with their arms wrapped around each other.

While some people appreciated the pictures, others criticized the radio host for what they considered insensitivity towards his former spouse, as several fans voiced their disapproval.

‘How’s Mon?’ one follower asked, before adding: ‘Show some respect.’

‘Too much show some respect to Monique,’ echoed another.

‘Geez, I hope your kids don’t follow your Insta,’ chastised a third.

It wasn’t all negativity, however, with many jumping in to defend Tim and Lizzie’s relationship.

‘They split up more than a year ago,’ came one reply. ‘How long should he wait?’

Another offered: ‘Wow! Some people are not happy…..your life to live.’
